I'm just saying from my vantage point (living in Buffalo), I'd pay the $174 (for two people round trip) via Southwest Airlines to get down to the smaller venue (compared to Syracuse and Cleveland)...the drive to DC would cost a fortune and take forever.
Cost effective-wise...you're best to go to Cleveland or Syracuse. Which city is closer, Syracuse?? I've been to both cities to see The Hip...it's almost like being in Canada - the places are CRAWLING with Canadians chanting HIP HIP HIP HIP...
...then again, so is the 9:30 Club from what I hear!

All the 9:30 bootlegs, especially the 96 edition, sound really great.

Just purchased my tix for DC.
I'll be flying down on a CHEAP flight from Albany, NY.
Can anyone familiar with the area of the 9:30 club recommend any hotels, activities in the area?
Also, how far is it from the Airport?

Same thing happened to me, it went straight to my bulk mail folder. Which is why I dont empty it without looking at it, even if i have to deal with the avalanche of Viagra ads :lol:

The Hotel Sofitel is REALLY nice, but it's rather pricey...as are most hotels in that area, and that city, for that matter. I am thinking the Holiday Inn - Central...it's still a few blocks away, but reasonably priced. There are a few hotels close to Howard University...which is also close to the venue.
As for the airport...depends on where you fly. If you fly into Reagan or Dulles, you're VERY close...hop onto the Metro if you wish. If you fly into Baltimore...it's a 45 minute train ride...but they take off into DC all throughout the day. It's so much cheaper to fly into Baltimore...but that's just my two cents...

Flying into Baltimore defenitely makes more sense than flying into DC, my dad went to DC for family and business reasons and saved a ton on his flights in and out by going through Baltimore.

The Metro... is a subway into town? How about fun stuff to do (besides the show of course).

you could go the new wegmans store that was buiilt in dulles or how about say like the vietman memorila, white house, capitol i dont' know how far they are from the show but it is the nations capital could be a ton of tourist type things to do

Carolyn(WheatQueen) and I have tickets for the 930 Club show. We'll be driving from Detroit. We had to see a show at that venue after hearing all the great boots made there and reading all the glowing reviews. I guess we'll be seeing Kari and ShannonW there.
