I know Gord has limited range but Paul Langlois as a lead singer? I don't know about everyone else but I can't picture it. Paul is all right as a backup vocalist but I don't see any evidence that he has a voice for singing lead. I mean, anything is possible, maybe Johnny can sing lead, but I can't envision Paul taking the mic. I mean, I can't hear Paul's voice being too distinguishable anyway when he's singing backup. I just don't see it happening as a lead singer.

Paul would be very good at perhaps producing a record. Helping the younger generation out to learn what needs to be done to be a successful musician. But a solo record? Would Gord D. write his lyrics for him? Would his stage presence attract a crowd? Would Paul be the lead guitarist? I made a statement earlier as a joke, but now that I see some are serious, I can't help but wonder what makes anyone think this is a good idea?
Paul is good at what he does. Is he replaceable? I think of all the band members, he would be the easiest to replace. So, as for a solo album, there's just absolutely no way that it would work.
I am a die-hard Hip fan...but when I listen to "She Didn't Know", and I hear Paul come in with "the barrel was loaded", I just can't seem to keep a straight face. Try it. I'm not trying to be mean or hard-headed, but listen to the song and try to keep a straight face. After this, you can decide if the solo career is the way to go.

The fact is folks, we just don't know.
We've never heard him front a band or (as far as we know) heard one of the songs he's written.
But if you can listen to him during Get Back Again and think he couldn't do well on his own, then you're a different judge of talent than I.
Given the chance, Paul would kill.

Why can't you keep a straight face? That just confused the hell out of me. That gives me the impression that you think Paul singing "the barrel was loaded" is funny somehow though I can't see why. I have never had a problem keeping a straight face during that part of She Didn't Know. I know he does have a sort of nasal sound to his voice in some songs (so maybe this is what you find funny and I can see how you could, if this is the case) but I think if his voice was put right up in front, right into the mic instead of being in the background, it would ring much more clearer and stronger.

Exactly.
Exactly what I was going to say also

I could be wrong...gray hair affecting grey matter & all that...but didn't i read somewhere that Paul wrote "Get Back Again", allegedly when he was naught but youngster?

I can't see a good reason why he shouldn't release one...what's the worst that can happen?
There's really no good reason not to release a CD, for anyone! If you have some songs you think are good enough and the spare cash to record and all that, why wouldn't you? (note: this does not apply to nickelback)
Maybe his lyrics wont be as great as Gord's, but I wouldn't have expected that anyways.
I'd love to hear it.

for the last 5 years my friend said that paul should come out with a solo album, even if he would be the only one to buy it!
I guess the point is the album would do horrible and we hipsters would be the only one buying it

Paul has a stage presence? I thought he was always just forced to go up on stage and play... at least that's what it looks like.
I'm just kidding, I love Paul, but he's not the most enthusiastic character... especially for a potential frontman.

Ah, but watch him when Gord makes refrence to him or stands next to him and goes nuts. In the Wasaga and Barrie DVD's, there are very good examples of Paul smiling very broadly and seeming to enjoy being the focal point, for albeit a breif moment... I think Paul would surprise a lot of his doubters.
