Scratch what I said about the search function earlier. By spending 30 seconds reading instructions I figured it out. Here are the results:

well shit... the link just takes you to the search area. Just type in underrated songs or whatever it is you'd like to talk about and hit the search all terms button.

Another Midnight!
Montreal- never made an album but a great song none the less.

I agree with yawning and pines. For me the weakest song on day for night is titanic, but that doesn't mean i think its not a good song. higway girl is one of my favorite songs that i've heard on the older boots. I'm not sure in what respect highway girl is viewed by others.

i have never herad/heard of this (admittedly i haven't really searched high and low for rarities and bootlegs as i'm sure most of you have), i'm really only well versed in the released material. is there anywhere i can listen to/dl "Montreal"?

i think the whole s/t album is underrated.

Both popular versions of "Montreal" 12/2000 and the original demo are available on Kazaa or the 100th. The lyrics are among the most chilling Gord has ever written. The Montreal Massacre in Gord's emotive glare. How it was left off the record is beyond me.

Few songs have "hit me" the first time listening to them, with the Tragically Hip I have had that feeling 3 times...the first was with Nautical Disaster...hardly an underrated songs...perhaps one of their most popular. The other 2 are Makeshift As We Are off of IBE, time will only tell if it dwells in obscurity (I sincerely hope not, because it truly is great). But the last song, The Dire Wolf could be their most underrated song of all time, it is remarkable to think that not many people have even had a chance to listen to this potential classic.
Spread the word ...
Goulet!!!

Wow, thought I was the only one with Dire Wolf on my greatest hits mix. Nice to know I'm not alone.

- The Darkest Canuck - 07-27-2004

The Dire Wolf's chorus is quite possibly the best one they've ever written (as far as hook goes) and i was really suprised that it wasn't released as a single, why'd they only release 3 singles from IVL anyway?

The Luxury.

Soft water, color tv. I just love the idea of Gord on the road, making random observations, and this one just really standing out.

This is definately one of my favourites off of RA. The bass line is just killer modified blues; the whole song for that matter. It just screams the blues.

I'm just glad people are gushing about The Dire Wolf... I think when there was a top 10 posting a few weeks back, i listed it at number 4 or something... like someone else mentioned, that song hit me like a ton of bricks the first time i heard it...it's astounding...its up there with nautical and Bones for me, just personally.

cpierson Wrote:Trickle Down. My favorite song off UTH when I first heard it, back in the Pleistocene.

I think So Hard Done By is brilliant, and deserves more love than it gets.

Sherpa
Sharks
Killing Time
Bring It All Back

... and As I Wind Down the Pines, which I think is one of the most beautiful songs they've ever done.

Yes for all of these

Geez Stephen...you pretty much nailed my list there...IOD would be my only addition...

We actually agree on something...scary... Confusedhock:

Interesting that six songs on this list come from TATH, who many on here would rank near the bottom of their favorite album list...
