Seen em in Saskatoon in 98 I think, pretty decent job, I liked their rendition of Fully Completely.......

There's another really solid Tribute band based out of the Ottawa area called Little Bones...the bass player is actually my bass coach.
A couple of beers and a some fake smoke and you'd swear your watching the real deal. The lead singer is quite the character, tons of energy and quite the ranter in his own rite.
For those of us who are unable to see the real Hip as often as we'd like it's not a bad idea to check out these tribute guys when we get the chance.
It beats sitting at home listening to the latest Default or Chad Kruger hack job on the radio...man I don't like those guys...uber cheese!!!!!

Goulet!!!

I play guitar, live in Etobicoke, and am totally up for a Hip cover band!

I'm a singer/songwriter/guitarist and live in the suburbs of Detroit. I know here in the States a Hip cover project wouldn't work(one of the great mysteries of the music world...why the hip can't make it in the states?). However, I play my own shows around the area (solo acoustic..etc) and I usually include a Hip song every now and then. Funny how people recognize Grace Too and Wheat Kings but they don't know who did it originally. I've got friends who love to hear me do Grace. Just chiming in.... :thumb:

I've seen both Road Apples and Practically HIP
Road Apples play every May 24 weekend at AJ's hangar here in Kingston, the lead singer owns a golf course, so that probably keeps him pretty busy.
Practically HIP I've seen a few times and when they come to the great city try to meet and tour them about town. I can't wait to see them again. Each of them individually is an AMAZING musician. And very nice people

Cool. Roy's in Mississauga and he plays drums.
I don't mean that we have to do anything serious, it would just be cool to jam a bit.

I was just playing Fidlers Green in a really cool way (not that it's a good band song to play). I dropped both E strings to D and capoed at the 2nd fret. I'm not sure if that's how the original is really played, I've never looked it up.

I'd love to do Pigeon Camera with a band, I can play the lead no problem.

dude! do you play in a band now? do have a place to jam?
D-man wants in also. I know alot of songs, others I can learn easily (see the 'favorite hip songs to play' thread).
let us know if you want to give it a try.

I doo a nasty Takin Care Of Business....

I'm in 100%. I have friends in Mississauga and I would have little problem getting out there so long as it's transit accessible.

Will you guys do birthday parties? I got one coming up...

I love the idea of a hip cover band! Even if it's nothing serious just jamming on it would be fun! But only one problem... I live in Ottawa and no one who's replied to this has been that close!

Let me know if someone around me wants to get something started.

I know every song. And if I just lied... then i can relearn it in a few seconds!

what type of equipment do you have? My amp weighs like 50 lbs, I wouldn't want to take in on the bus! My pedalboard is pretty heavy also.
No new post from Roy yet, we need him!

I've got an acousticsonic amp and a Peavey 112 also. I would be willing to leave it somewhere if that's an option.

My cousin's brother is the drummer...so beat that! (that's sarcasm for those that can't read it).

ROAD APPLES ROCKED! - patiodweller - 09-22-2004

The Road Apples were phenomenal!! I would do anything to see them again. Saw them 4 times. I don't think they've played AJ's in years. The Little Bones website says they broke up.
