Ah, but the "She's preparing her for the funeral... dressing up her daughter in the casket" gives chills upon first listen. At least it did for me.
Apparently, Gord took it from a story in "Le Devoir" in which a mother of one of the victims described doing just that.
I've often wondered how that tune didn't make the album... seems perfect to me.

They did pull it out live a few times. 6 times in 91. and once in Montreal, Dec. 7, 2000. It is a great song, too bad it was never released

The Hip have something called respect, respect for the victimz and their familiez of that aweful day, prawly along the linez of why they don't do Fiddler'z live, some of the stuff is just too personnal. I think that they did do it in Montreal on the Evening with tour......and also very early on, its on various bootz from like 90-91....

Sorry for all the TO-centric stuff but was born and raised in the center of the universe (although now living in Vancouver i can see why TO annoys the rest of the country so much). Still all good versions of the songs mentioned.

Ah, but they released FG. No better way to pay respect than to give the song a public release. As evidenced by this very thread, some people learn about the Montreal Masacre from the song.

Nope, only one version. "Her mama's gunna make her look good..." is a veiled shot at the murderer who had a twisted misogynistic hatred of all women. He actually said: "Don't you know? where killing women here tonight?" to passers-by as he headed for the Cafeteria. He wanted to destroy the beauty that frustrated him, the beauty he could not have, and the beauty that he blamed for his lot in life. But "don't you worry..." she'll be beautiful on her final day. Her mom will make sure of that you son of a bitch.
Veiled anger. Perfect poetry.
If anybody saved any of the burning church stuff, the whole story was there.
