i do, sincerely...and saw them in concert six times.
i think the album is amazing, but it didn't "work" because it didn't "sound" like van halen. i.e. songs were long...they weren't your typical verse-chorus-verse-guitar-solo-chorus van halen songs.
safe to van halen fans aren't among the most exploratory in the world.
the mixing of the album bites though, sounds way too tin-ny. and aside from the tune "ballot or the bullet" i think it's great all around...and i would count "from afar" and "dirty water dog" among my top 20 halen tunes.
