Well some people decided that Bush was a good president and voted for him in november!

however, from my experience, Canadians love their wrestling as much as Americans.
As a side note, I love the story about how my Mother's family got their first televison and everyone would come and watch WRESTLING on the CANADIAN station!

That reminded me of how my Baba was. She was in her 80's and the only thing she ever watched on TV was the WWF. Whenever it was on she would pull up a dining room chair super close to the TV (bad eye-sight) to watch "her stories." She was so cute. I still don't understand how or why she got into wrestling because no one else in our family watched it.

I watched as a kid, and it's just sorta stuck, even though I'm 29 now. I'm not fanatical or anything, but if I'm home on Mondays with nothing to do, I usually watch Raw.
Yes, it's fake. Yes, a lot of it's crap.... (kimono matches, or pillow fights???) But once in awhile you get something excellent to watch......
Personally, for pure wrestling, Ring of Honor is 1000 times better then WWE.

It's a pseudo-violent soap opera.

Back when I watched and had to defend myself for watching I used to say it's a "Soap operaish violent three ring circus".
It's also theater of the mind because if they announcers weren't there spelling out what kinds of people these wrestlers were you wouldn't know or care about why they were wrestling. The wrestlers will pretend to be hurt and the announcers will beef up what is happening so you care about what is going on in the ring. I know seeing them live you don't have JR and The King telling you blow by blow what is going on so it's not as much fun!
It's all carefully choreographed dance but at the same time it's also improvisation. It's all fake but they do get hurt.
I figured out if they are hurt in the ring, like someone takes a "sledge hammer" to their knee, it's usually planned because the wrestler needs to go on vacation. Like when Chris Jericho got married a few years back. He got seriously 'hurt' in the ring, he got married that weekend and then went on his honeymoon. He went away for like three weeks and exactly three weeks later, HE WAS BACK! However, when Stone Cold's neck was hurt a few years back, it wasn't planned and you didn't know about it till a long time after.
I do see them as athletes(sp?) because they are in great shape and you'd have to be an athlete(sp?) to do what they do and not get hurt every night! Some are also very good actors, as far as actors go in wrestling, like HHH and Stone Cold.
Hmmm...I forgot it's eye candy too. I always do love to look at those hot muscled up men in those tight tights and/or trunks
...and of course they have the half naked women too but like I care about those.

hmmm, i actually used to like wrestling better live, of course that was when it was still actually about the wrestling, not just blabbing on a mic for an hour or two. i've seen some greats live:
Bret Hart
Owen Hart
Shawn Michaels
Undertaker
Brittish Bulldog
Yokozuna
Razor Ramone
Tatanka
Lex Luger
i dunno, lots more than that, i just can't remember them all, nothing beats seeing Bret Hart wrestle Owen Hart though, those boys could put on one hell of a show, nowadays house shows get crappy matches, but back then the cards were really good, i saw many title matches, hell, i even saw a casket match!

Well yeah it's great live but without the commentary at my first RAW I was lost and at No Mercy in 2000 we had no idea what was going on with the Stone Cold/Rakshi match because most of it was out of the ring!
Here are the people worth mentioning I've seen..
HHH(twice, first time he was the rich dude and the second time he was who we know today)
Chyna (twice, once as the valet for HHH and then as the Chyna she was before she left WWF)
Mick Foley (as the insane Mankind and the commissioner)
The Rock (twice)
Kurt Angle
Chris Jericho (oh how I wish I could again)
Undertaker (once in the ring as the dead man and once out on his motorcycle. btw, he's got THE COOLEST entrance in wrestling, period.)
Test
Stone Cold (twice, the first time was before he got hurt)
Val Venis (one of my personal faves  )
Owen Hart (with what was left of the Hart Foundation in the summer of 97)
Chris Benoit
Trish Stratus(when she was valet for Test and Albert)
JR(announce)
Jerry the King Lawler(announce but would love to see wrestle)
Vince (back when he was announcing)
Stephanie
Brock Lesnor (out on his bike in Minnesota)
Can't think of any others.
Wrestling personalities I've met
Hacksaw Jim Duggan(he was at a local mall)
Jesse Ventura(I was actually in the audience once at his short lived talk show on MSNBC)
People I would LOVE to see
HBK( I was supposed to see him in 97 in Lake Placid at RAW, but had that wicked hell in the cell match with Undie before the RAW and had hurt his back)
Sting
Rick Flair
Eric Bischoff, just because he is SO good at being a bad guy
BTW, I miss D-X and the four horsemen
BUT I DON'T WATCH ANYMORE! HONEST!

i would've loved to see Foley, he's my second favourite after Bret.

When I saw Foley, he had just joined the WWF as "Mankind" and that was the Mankind who would sit in the corner of the ring and pull his hair out and rant nonsense on the mic. I HATED HIM and had no idea who he was! He was SO ANNOYING! And then, all the greatness that is Mick Foley came out and then I finally get to see him again, but he was just a commish and he came to the ring during No Mercy in 2000 and made some announcement. It wasn't like he really did a big long interview or wrestled. However, I am fortunate to have seen him. I LOOOOOVE Mick, he's right up there with Jericho.

I miss the ECW. I hate the fact they merged with WWF and WCW. I liked it at first but they lost me after a while.

Kurt Angle was an olympic wrestling champion. I saw a documentary about him and it was unbelievable how much he trained for the olympics and in university. I think he was the NCAA champ as well. All he did was basicall eat sleep and train

And then won the Gold medal with the small impediment of a neck broken in two places.
