I'm amazed at the wide range of taste (or lack thereof!) for this album. Someone actually voted for Locked? I would love to hear from the contrarian that thinks "Locked" is the weakest track on FC. What is your basis for making that choice?

In other words, the Canadian justice system is rife with injustice (wrongful conviction - especially of indigenous people - being "nothing new"), and we don't care;

In other words, "Oh yah, we always knew it'd sort itself out, not that we gave a sh*t; and by the way, don't expect compensation or remorse from us."
Marshall did eventually receive compensation, of course.
We can argue over whether Downie is representing things fairly, but the song seems pretty clearly critical of Canada to me.
(As for picking "Locked" as the worst song on FC, I can't believe that either
cratch: Some things are beyond mortals' ken).

I've suggested before that some people are not actually addressing the poll question, but rather are "voting off" songs they feel are overrated, or that they personally are sick of. That's where obvious distortions come from.

Sean Bonner - sure thing. I wasn't targeting you specifically, just suggesting that most of the "aberrant" votes (voting against universally acclaimed classics, for example) are reacting to factors extrinsic to the song, such as the song's being overrated. Thing is, being overrated is not the same thing as being the worst song on a record.

This is true and valid.
I voted for 50 MC not based on its own merit but but based on a) how much i loved the other ones (lionized, we'll go too, el dorado) and b) knucklehead leafs out west telling me how big of a leafs fan gordie is based on that 50 MC
i probably should've went with wherewithal if i was being honest with myself.

i'll admit, i am guilty of that. but it is hard to set that bias aside considering how many times we have heard these songs. no matter how good a song is, if you hear it hundreds and hundreds of times, you are bound to get sick of it.

My complete disinterest in listening to music on the radio - an activity I've never understood, since I don't know why I would let formula-driven bores and taste-challenged morons program my music for me - has probably helped to inoculate me from this problem of "overexposure." But maybe I over-estimate the extent to which certain Hip songs have dominated the airwaves.

I take it you've never worked north of fort mac for months on end with a work truck that contained neither a CD or tape player and only two radio stations to pick from: top forty rock and new country
Trust me, you'd give away your mothers wedding ring to here Lionized instead of 50 MC.
