Wondered if he'd break out the suit for the governor general, glad he stuck with what now seems to be the only outfit in his closet. I truly appreciate his minimalism approach to wardrobe. This is a really goofy thing to say, but I was glad to see him smile.

Getting the order of Canada is a huge deal and I think it would have been nice to show some respect to the occasion and wear a suit.

I wonder if the still has his suits from the Music@Work tour hanging in his closet. I'm sure he could have whipped out one of those for the occasion. Or the white suit from the Good Life video.

He wasn't the only one wearing jeans.

i wasn't implying that he was the only one.
in my opinion, you should always dress for the occasion and sometimes that means putting on a suit. from what i can see in the picture on twitter, 1 or 2 of the men are in jeans. the rest are suits. i dunno, maybe i'm old, but i think the situation warranted getting dressed up.
now get the hell off my lawn you crazy kids!!

Given the tour wardrobe, we know he owns at least 7 suits. I think the metallic silver or turquoise would have been have been awesome. He could have chosen MMP Gord over Secret Path Gord.

The "Shy Guy" patch above his heart was given to him by his daughter
The beaded poppy honours veterans while also drawing attention to the indigenous who served in the wars.
The black circular compass has been carried over from prior outfits.
I am not sure about the yellow button or the trinkets seen here. Although it appears the lady beside him is wearing something similar, so perhaps it was given to them yesterday?

"Gord Downie and The Order Of Canada" would be a great band name for his next solo album. Just sayin'!

Gord can do whatever he wants, God love him. But *in principle,* I'm definitely with Mark. Dress for the occasion, mark your respect for what the office represents. I was less bothered by Gord's outfit than by the thought that 'he wasn't the only one wearing jeans;' IMO that's f**ked up.
Beyond that, the Order of Canada is really a massive honour. Certainly I would be overwhelmed to receive one (not that I will). Way to go Gord :thumb:
