+1. That album and tour were both pleasant surprises.
I think my dream tour would be Paul and GD together on the road as a duo, playing 500-1000 seat theatres. 20 songs played, 10 each from their respective solo catalogues, with maybe a Hip b-side or two thrown in. Stories and anecdotes about the song-writing process in between songs. These guys have a connection and friendship with each other that is unique within the band (e.g. Gord named one of his suits after Paul, the only band member he did this for, as a thank-you for his support) and I would love to see the chemistry between the two on stage, chatting with each other like the lifelong buddies they are.

Well, announcement came out today and no Hip or Gord Downie.
Gordon Lightfoot though.

Love Lightfoot. Not enough to deal with the chaos of Ottawa during the 150 celebrations though.
Not sure Toronto will be much better, but I might head up there and set up camp along the harbour and grab some cool shots of the skyline at night with the fireworks.

I have a parking spot downtown and 100% Gordo will sing 'Canadian railroad trilogy', which is one of my 10 favourite songs by anyone ever, and there is literally 0% chance I will go anywhere near that clusterfuck on Canada day. We can watch it on TV at home.

I had not expected the Hip, but it's a bit underwhelming overall. Agree with the above, no way I'm negotiating that crowd for the concert, though we do have a good spot to see the fireworks. I like seeing my tax dollars explode in the air.
It is supposed to be three days, but so far I've only seen the schedule for Canada Day. Of those bands, besides Lightfoot, Lisa Leblanc is really good though I'm betting she's tapped for a French song.

Pearl Wenjack is scheduled to appear on Parliament Hill on July 2nd for WE day.

Bono and the Edge have been added to the Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill. I'm assuming this will be an acoustic performance.

Sounds like Bono and Edge are just flying in quickly, playing only one or two songs around noon, and then heading right back to the airport. They're playing a show in Cleveland on the same night, which is unfortunate. I was hoping it would be a longer set.

I will be avoiding Parliament Hill like the plague on Canada Day.
I'll put the stream on my television, poke my head out onto my patio to see the flyby, and then hopefully WE day won't be as insane. Gonna check that out, with the hopes of Gordie showing up with Pearl.

Years back (I am guessing 96) I was downtown Ottawa for Canada Day. I have never been one to suffer from claustrophobia or agoraphobia, but the mass crowd down there was nothing like I have ever been in, almost hit full panic mode. I have never had that feeling before, haven't had it since. Swore I'd never do it again.
I can only imagine the size the crowd will be for this coming 150 Canada Day, so nope, no thank you at all.

Bono talked about Canada's 150th and how we were "just a baby". He then said, and I'm paraphrasing because I don't remember his exact words, "Edge and I are going to help you blow out the candles on your birthday cake, Canada." I knew they had their last North American (leg 1) show on July 1st so I assumed he was just joking.

I am very hesitant to post this because it's just a rumour. Did I mention RUMOUR. Anyway, I am in Ottawa. A friend has a friend who is a crew member for the Parliament Hill show. He says The Hip have been there to do a sound check. I don't have any details beyond that, so like I said, just a rumour. I'v got some other lines in the water so if I hear anything I will pass along - good or bad.
