I can guarantee you the VIP section will suck. Don't waste your money. Buy the GA tix and just stake out a spot near the soundboard with a decent view of the stage. The VIP section in Edmonton last year had short beer lines and nice bathrooms, but the view of the stage was absolute garbage. When I thought "VIP", I mistakenly assumed we'd be in some kind of cordoned off area either in front of the soundboard, or right in front of the stage. Boy was I wrong.

The option of flying Porter to New York/Chicago/Boston to see the Hip in a small club on multiple nights for close to the same price of fighting the 400 cottagers on the busiest long weekend of the year doesn't even seem comparable. I attended Downsview and Bobcaygeon last summer, and considering these shows will be very similar to those (same promoter, crowd size, douchebaggery level, set-list, etc.) I'm so ready for something new, but I will be patient.

I agree it would be nice to see at least a basic level of the VIP seating. But perhaps if we saw it, we wouldn't want to buy them. Smile

Rumours are running rampant in Fredericton today that The Hip have signed on to be one of the headliners this year at FredRock. For the first year, the festival is over 2 days, August 10th & 11th.
