The page served its purpose so I took it down. I just wanted to prove to the powers that be that a large fan base was housed in Northern New York (plus I got sick of getting 100 emails a day). It was up to them to hopefully get the band on board for H2Otown. The last that I knew, talks were still going on. They said that they would let me know of any changes either good or bad, so I will post something if I hear something.

Thanks for the update Birdseye. Let's hope everything comes together. It certainly would be a huge fundraiser for the DPAO.

I wonder if they'll do festival gigs in the summer with a fall/winter release and full tour? It seems funny that they wouldn't have any album news but they're booking shows.

My feeling is they will get together in the spring 2011 and start the album,do some shows in the summer\fall,finish the album before Christmas,and we wont see anything till spring 2012

So I don't think things are looking good for The Hip playing in Watertown next summer. I haven't heard any good news about the show as of yet, and I would assume if the organization in mind were suppose to get the band...it would be almost booked by now.
The show seemed to make sense to me (and 5,000 facebook people) that Watertown would be a great fit. Friends from Canada were just a short 45 minute drive away, We are right on the banks of the Ontario with basically with Kingston a stone's throw away, and this area has a massive following. We have the space, I would assume that the D.P.A.O. have the money, and we have the crowd.
Remember that this isn't just a regular concert. Any profits made are going to disabled people that need assistance in northern New York. It's amazing to me as noble as the band is that they would choose an opposite date even though they know that by playing in Watertown means that they are helping many disabled people. This isn't just a regular tour date. If it doesn't fit into the schedule then I totally get it, but if it fits, then we definitely need it!
Can anyone think of reasons why the band wouldn't play in the Watertown/Northern New York area because this would be a major letdown if they passed us up?
