On Thursday morning I took a tour of the Texas Stadium in Dallas. At the end of the tour we could horse around on the field, and much to my surprise I was joined by the entire University of Missouri Tiger's football team preparing for their game against Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl game. I tossed around the pigskin with thier players in their practice warm-up, and asked them if they were all ready for the big game. They said "Yes, we'll be ready". After looking at their actions on the field (it was their first time seeing the field too), some players seemed quite in awe of the historical building, while others mimicked Terrel Owens' antics on the field. It should be interesting to see if they can handle the pressure.

How 'bout those Jayhawks?!? I'm incredibly biased, but I thought it was a great game even if you weren't a fan of either team. Just a fun game to watch.

With three games to go, it looks like K.Lane (grimes) is in good shape ... unless my final three picks can come through (go Ball State!). Esthete is only four points back, but his picks mirror K.Lane's -- with lower confidence.

Yep, I'm officially out of it. The Hipbase crown will be passed....
Props to KU for probably the biggest win in their program's history. They have a balanced team, and played with more intensity and desire for 4 full quarters.
But I'm still trying to figure out what Beamer & Co. were doing offensively (besides losing the game). Branden Ore was suspended for the 1st Qtr. for showing up late for practice, and got his first carry (for 3 yds.) on 1st down in VT's first full drive of the 2nd Qtr. He would not touch the ball again until VT's next posession, and proceeded to rush for 48 yards on 11 carries to put the Hokies on the board.
Beamer & Co. looked like they recognized that Ore gave the Hokies' offense their best chance of consistently moving the football when they gave him 8 carries (for 57 yards) in the 3rd quarter. However, despite being down by only 3 points in the 4th quarter, the Beamer braintrust gave Ore only ONE CARRY IN THE NEXT TWO POSSESIONS, and fittingly, the first ended as a 3-and-out and the next ended with an INT.
Kansas then went up by 10, and when VT took possession with 10:57 remaining, Ore once again was denied a carry, and VT was forced to punt it away.
So let's recap:
In the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Branden Ore had a total of 20 carries for 108 yards (5.4 ypc) and 1 TD.
In the 4th quarter, Ore had just 3 carries.
I'm thinking that this type of offensive scheming perfectly explains why VT has lost 4 consecutive BCS games.

You nailed it. Speaking for all KU fans, it was really scary watching what Ore did in the second quater. I have no idea why they went away from him. No clue. It definitely felt like VTech was dominating while they were handing it to him. Bizarre.

Well, it looks like K. Lane is the champ followed by Esthete.
The only competition tonight seems to be me and Sullivan for third place - I took LSU and he took Ohio - so whoever wins that game wins third here - and if LSU wins Sullivan actually drops to 5th with Skroeker coming in 4th.
