i seriously doubt that they would allow taping since gord is selling his own boots. others taping would take away profits, but you never know

I am a new member of hipbase and a long time fan of the Hip and Gord. I've seen him twice on his solo tour. Once in my hometown of Detroit and in Chicago. I have meet Gord twice. Once on a Hip Tour and recently in Detroit. He is very cool and good looking.
My brother who grew up here, moved to Atlanta and just recently to Wolfville, N.S. Since moving there he became aware of the Hip as part of the Canadian personna. He knew I was into the Hip from 1995. He wants to see the Hip in Halifax. I told him about Gord's tour and he got tickets for the show at the Neptune. I believe it is sold out. Lance, Rory and friends have taken all the tickets.
I have turned him on to all the good Hip songs. That's the band he wants to see. I told him, go see Gord now , it will be a good teaser for when the Hip tour Halifax next summer. He's listened to Gord's music and can't wait for the Hip. I can't wait for Edgefest.

Smuggling cameras:
I have a 210mm lens that I used to get my pics at both Bluesfests Gord performed at, and I REALLY want to sneak my cmaera into the Marquee to get some up-ultra-close shots. Any suggestions? I have been thinking about bringing a jacket and hiding the camera in several pieces in the pockets, but they might search the jacket because who carries a coat that early in the fall unless they have something to hide...
Any ideas? I would love to think that the Marquee would allow me to take pics, but I can't afford to get there and be shut out.
And if you guys are meeting up before the show, I'd love to join you!

Down your pants

hock: ...that's the only way I've ever successfully snuck in a camera.

I usually put the camera down my shirt.
I would try to smuggle it in, bring an extra pair of batteries.
If they want to take your camera, just tell them you will give them the batteries. Then you have the extra pair!
Just a thought. I always bring extra batteries just in case.! :thumb:

Down your pants? rofl..."Is that a 12-inch telephoto lens or are you just that happy to be here?"
Thanks, but I don't think that would work. I don't mean a little point and click camera, I mean my SLR. I want great pics, and it would give me a chance to experiment since I've never taken pics in a such a small venue with the artist so close.
But the batteries idea is great!!...an idea so good, I could have come up with it! But I didn't so...thank you for the suggestion

I think I'll probably just take the camera apart into 3 pieces and smuggle them in in 3 different places. Any girls going who are taking their purses??

(Kidding...but then again, if I could find someone to go with...)

Halifax's population is approx 352,000 total. About 270,000 people live in the immediate Metro Halifax/Dartmouth/Sackville/Bedford area.

We should meet up before the show and have a few beers/pops and share some experiences. I'll come up with a list of bars/lounges near the Marquee and we can pick one and a time.
I was hoping to bring my SLR camera also. Friend of mine will be packing his digital camera and Im sure Lance will have his. If anything this show will be well photographed *if* we can get our cameras in there. I'm not sure what the policy is on cams at the Marquee or for any of Gord's shows for that matter. Anyone know?
I'll make a call or send off an email and try to find out for certain.

I attended Gord's show at Lee's Palace back in June, got some great shots...have yet to scan them...but anyways, I was holding my camera as I walked in, security was as lax as it could be, and when Gord came out on stage there were flashes that reminded me of when they came out NYE 1999. Anyways, I doubt you guys should have a problem, but who knows...

Hey there ARE guys out there with 12 inches...Forget the purse idea too...I tried twice getting my camera into the House of Blues but my plan was thwarted by the anal security there. And unfortunately I was extremely sleep deprived that day and didn't even think about sticking it down my pants

I shall never see pictures of that show I guess
Anyway...I think down your pants is your only atlernative cos remember it needs to be somewhere they're not gonna wanna pat you down.
