Hecht
Roy

Give the Sabres Tallinder or Lydman and they still beat the laffs with sundin.

Speaking of Connolly, what's the word on him? Is he expected to play this season at all?

I forgot all about him being out with post-concussion syndrome & i took him in my hockey pool.

There's no talk. So probably Feb. at the earliest, if at all. It would be great to have him for the playoffs, at least.

Yay! Flames are back in the win column, 4-1 over the Hawks tonight. Another huge game from the Iggy/Langkow/Tanguay line, not to mention a terrific performance by Tony Amonte!

Tallinder and Lydman are your two top d-men? Then why do they rank 4th (20:70) and 5th (19:47) in icetime behind Spacek (22:40), Numminen (22:10), and Campbell (21:05)? cratch:

guess what, injuries are a part of the game, and Sundin is a way bigger loss than two d-men...he's like, the only guy who gets it done for the leafs 5 on 5, nihgt in and night out...

wow, at least the game last night was entertaining

too bad we didn't come out with the win, but most of the sabres fans were gracious in winning and didnt give us too hard of a time, as a lot of them kept pointing out that the season series was tied 1-1
(there were a few jackass' but I won't paint all sabres fans with the same brush) :thumb:

It's not quantity, its quality. When Tallinder is in the line up, it is whole different game. But I'm not about to complain about 18-3-1. I watch every game and go to half the home games, I think I have a pretty good idea.

Oh, so they play fewer minutes, but those minutes are better minutes. I suppose that explains why they don't play as much as the other three guys. Great logic.

Actually - with Tallinder and Lydman hurt - the other four defensmen have ben logging tons of extra ice time - screwing with the stats.
Campbell has been playing close to 30 minutes a game lately. And the two rookies the Sabres have been using - have been non-ice-time-existent in some games - some nights on the ice for only 2 minutes - some nights for 6 minutes.
Also, the Sabres won by "1-goal" last night - and that was with SIX rookies in the lineup.

I thought about that as well, and while it is true... if you look at the stats of the first few games of the season when Tallinder and Lydman were in the line-up, both Spacek and Numminen logged more ice-time than those two.

2nd game of the season, Tallinder played fewer minutes than Spacek and Campbell (with Lydman playing fewer minutes than those three and Numminen).
3rd game of the season, Tallinder and Lydman played fewer minutes than Spacek and Numminen.

I could go on, but you get the point. Any way you want to cut it, Tallinder and Lydman are not your top two D-men.

As for the comment about rookies, are you seriously counting a guy who played 25 seconds?

I love when a Leafs fan tries to tell a Sabres fan who their best Defenseman is. Henrik Tallinder is Buffalo's best defenseman. There is no doubt about it. Watch a few games and then talk. Ok so you were without Sundin. We were without Afinogenov for our first meeting and tonight we were down 2 excellent defenseman and also Derek Roy(our best penalty killer). Also without Jochen Hecht. Had Danny Paille, Drew Stafford, and Michael Ryan in the lineup. I think I might have more NHL experience than those 3 combined. I will have to look it up. Fact of the matter is Buffalo spotted you a two goal lead this time and you couldnt capitalize. Tough keeping up with the best in the East eh?

I love when Sabres fans try to tell the world that their best d-man is a guy who the coach apparently thinks is 3rd or 4th on the depth chart.

Yeah, tough keeping up. Nothing says ass-kicking like a one goal victory with a couple of empty netters.......especially when the winning team was outshot. :roll:
