Funny, "Chagrin Falls" is always the track I skip over.
Glossy? I think "Family Band" has the least amount of production on it.
To me, It's a classic Hip rock 'n' roll road song from Gord. It's similar to "Puttin' Down," but with some more jam to it.

The only thing that is clear to me from listening to the album several times is that "In View" is the worst track. I actually kind of like the song but I think in comparison to the rest of the songs, it isn't up to par. It is probably the best song for radio though, if that means anything.

Sorry -- I didn't mean "glossy" in terms of production or engineering, I meant it in terms of musical construction / style. In my opinion, it's not at all "classic" Hip rock (that would be reserved for stuff that would be reminiscent of "Cordelia" or "Three Pistols", etc.). FB sounds infinitely poppier than "classic" Hip rock.....

I've only been here for 2 months, so I haven't had time to develop a bias. If I have one, it would be for "The Bastard" (given the mention of Philadelphia) and that's not gonna happen.

Maybe I don't get it, but I just can't seem to get into "The Kid's Don't Get It."
I know it's a favourite of quite a few peeps, but the line where he sings "expert straaaannger" and "strannngerrr experts" is dare I say, annoying.

I agree 100%. After hearing the entire record, I was a bit relieved to gain some insight into HOW it could "fit", yet the context doesn't help me appreciate the song any.

Agreed, but that only reinforces my perspective that it's a weak Tragically Hip tune.

I'm not a big fan of using the same lyrics in 2 different songs as they did in "the kids" and "Pretend".
I also think the worst part of the album is in "The Kids Don't Get It" when Gord belts "that was eaasssssssyyyyyy" at the beginning of the song. It just doesn't sound right.
However, other than that, the album is unreal from beginning to end.
World Container and Ocean are still my favourite songs

I also agree that it's the weakest song on the record. But even a weak Tragically Hip song is still better than 90% of the shit that you hear on the radio these days. I still like the tune.
