Yeah, I've got Blood Black. I'll figure something out later tonight for getting it to you.

Any chance you could hook me up with 'Blood Back' as well please? I'd really appreciate it! They played it last night and it sounded great.

Re: Wintersleep - Zenith - 02-04-2010

So, I saw Postdata last night and really enjoyed them. The album comes across pretty well live - I wasn't entirely sure if it would. Paul broke a string during the first song, and only had one guitar so had to carry on without it. He did pretty well considering. The highlights were 'In Chemicals', 'Easter' and 'Paranoid Clusters' for sure (Paul's delivery of the line "shrapnel, prophylactics, expired anti-biotics" is incredible!)

Tim (from Wintersleep) was playing the keyboards and stuff which was a nice surprise. I was expecting Paul's brother. I spoke to him for a few minutes as well, and asked him about the Wintersleep album (which is done with the exception of artwork etc.) Apparently, they should be touring in the UK again in May which I'm very excited about, and will be saving up to attend as many shows as possible!

Here's a few photos:

Sick photos Ben. God you have talent. :thumb:

How long (approx.) did the show run? And were they the opener, headliner or just playing a regular set?

Thanks! :thumb:

They played for about forty minutes. They were opening for David Bazan. I stayed for a few songs and shot some photos. He was pretty good.

Those are great photos, Ben. I really love the colors. I don't know how to talk about colors/color theory, but I like how subdued-yet-rich everything looks, if that makes any sense at all.

I've discovered Wintersleep is playing two shows during the Olympics; I'm going to try to drag my long-suffering Other Half to both of them. We'll see how THAT works out for me. One seems more likely than both, but who knows. I am pretty sure the whole point of the Olympics is free concerts, so the dragging shouldn't be too difficult.

For those of you who're interested, Ben has a great review of the night up at Call Upon The Author!

Re: Wintersleep - BrenTheodore - 02-06-2010

Can I just reiterate how Miasmal Smoke is such a rocking-fantastic-eight-minutes-and-nine-seconds-of-greatness song. Between this new Wintersleep album and Gord's solo record, the start to this summer is going to be hands down amazing.

Hey Ben, when you were talking to Paul, did he let anything slide at all about the record? And another thought I had about the Postdata tour; maybe this is a fact I just missed, but why is the tour in the UK and not else like Eastern Canada? Does Paul's brother live over there, because I even noticed that the album was recorded and mixed in Halifax.

And just to add this post cause goddamn this band is just at my number one lately; does anyone have the bonus tracks from WTTNS that were with the Japanese release of the record. It was 'Early in the Morning' as the version of it from iTunes was live-ish I want. The other track 'The Kids are Ultra Violent' was released through their website.

Re: Wintersleep - MattyM - 02-07-2010

Bren, I have the bonus tracks from the UK release, give me a shout if you want them.

I'm also really chuffed that the latest 'fan' of my site (on Facebook at least) is Jason Mejia who did the art for the Untitled album and the European/vinyl cover for WTTNS. I sent hima message and he seems a really cool guy, so I'm gonna try and get some info through him as he seems to be good friends with Paul.

Well said! MSATYBF is one of my favourite songs of all time.

I didn't speak to Paul, only Tim (D'eon) who was playing keyboards and things for Postdata. There wasn't much esle to tell really. The album is done, they are just trying to sort out artwork, it should be released in May and the should be touring the UK around then as well. I'm so excited for that!

I believe we should see a new Arcade Fire album as well in May. Not sure if you're a fan but that's like the perfect trifecta for me!

I'm so tempted to cancel all plans I have for Feb 23rd, since the Constantines and Wintersleep and playing back to back free sets in Surrey!
