Well, the reports suggest it's not very serious. So you can be pessimistic, and say the Leafs are dooooomed, and that it's probably worse than they say of he's out that long ...
... or you can look on the bright side, and note that this is only the start of the NHL's interminable greed-driven and largely meaningless regular season, that taking him out of the lineup until he's fully recovered is prudent, and that this will encourage some of the Leafs' hidden talents to step up their game.
And then we'll laugh at you, for living in a dream world. Hidden talent? The
Leafs? What's next, some half-mad bullshit like, "they'll still make the playoffs?"

Time for the leafs to come back down to earth and assume the position of 7th-9th in the East.

You know, when the league was only 21 teams and 16 made the playoffs, I'd agree the regular season was meaningless. But when 14 of 30 teams don't make the playoffs, I say the regular season is pretty damn meaningful.
With a grand total of three playoff series won in the last ten NHL seasons, I'd think you Hab fans would be a little more appreciative of the regular season.

Oh, cfern, you and I both know what a biased sample is.

If I were you, I'd be pretty embarrassed that in the 300 billion years since the dinosaurs kicked off, the Leafs have made the playoffs only, what, 0.000000000000000000000000001 percent of the time?
-
cferneyh - 11-08-2006
So you think. I have it on good authority that the Leafs were the dominant team of the Mesozoic Era, hence their recent tendency to bring in over-the-hill-overpriced-bums (another reason I love the cap - no fear of moves like "hey, let's get Phil Housely for the playoffs!").

Well, that doesn't square with the fossil record.
And there are cave paintings featuring stick figures worshipping what some have interpreted as the sun, but what is clearly a C with an H in the middle of it.
On the other hand, there is only one cave painting of a blue maple leaf, and an antelope is urinating on it.
I'm just saying.
