Hi all,
first off, I just want to apologize for my absence lately. The reason, is that I am currently in Australia because I was invited to the Queensland University of technology by the Director of the Institute for Creative Industries and Innovation to discuss the development of the next generation of a social media music web application as a result of the work on the Hip website. It's been really exciting - I've been meeting with independent record labels, Professors from a whole bunch of different departments - I have been asked to design the application which will be built off of an existing shell of a platform developed by the university over the last few years. One end result, will be, that eventually, the Hip get the most advanced, technologically and feature rich music platform know to man. It is an enterprise level application, cloud computing and a bunch of other technological mubo jumbo. There's a bunch of other stuff as well - they also invited my to do my PHD - I still have to apply and get accepted, but seeing as they invited me to apply and to design the application, I am hoping it won't be an issue, considering I only ever did a 3 year history degree in 4.5 years and never really cared about school - I think my parents are going to be a little tickled. So, the possibility exists, if all goes right, that I will get my PHD by designing and building this next generation platform - which the Hip will get to use.
Anyway, that's why I haven't been around the last couple of weeks. I am currently in Sydney for the rest of the week - brought my wife with me - and we have a friend in Sydney, so seeing as I traveled to the other side of the world, it seemed a shame not to go visit with our friend, whom we never see.
That's the short version of the story and I will share more of the events that have transpired as they unfold - but the new platform that I will develop will have the full support and all the intellectual brain power of the University and will be an amazingly powerful application that I can't wait to get started on it and share with you all.
So, now that I (hope) to have explained my absence - I have also had the unfortunate luck of arriving at a hotel that had a broken internet connection for 36 hours. So now that I once again have internet access, and I am not in 7 hours of meetings a day presenting ideas - though I am currently still some ridiculous time - I wanted to explain about the Cineplex pricing difference that has recently come to my attention. I looked into it and this is what I have found out:
So the price of of the ticket, as charged by cineplex.com, includes all taxes. the price listed on thehip.com, did not include taxes.
- if you buy the record, you get the cd the night of the screening.
I'll be catching up on what's been going on over the next couple of days and again, just wanted to say sorry that I haven't been around - but hopefully, you will all understand. It's not a done deal, but I am confident enough that it will happen, to share it with you to explain my absence of late.

Mav posted what I was going to say... if you look on the ticket, it says $21.95 and the then the taxes which works out to the 25.25 everyone is talking about
The cineplex website is a cluster fuck to say the least... i gave up and went into London and got my tickets in person... going on a friday night at 915 wasnt the smartest move, had some teeny bopper couple making out the entire time i stood in line right in front of me... i dont think they came up for air once... HAHAHA...
But good news is... i got my tickets, and will be there to check out this movie shindig with my girlfriend. Should be a good time.
Ill be seeing ya london folks there...
