Wow....all I can say is thank you HipBasers! I've never heard of this band before I visited these forums. Thought I would give them a try because Hip fans' taste in music is pretty similar to mine.
Got my hands on their first 2 albums and thought they were very good, though not very spectacular. Then picked up the 2007 album WTTNS and was blown away. Love every track on the album. Honorable mentions go to Miasmal Smoke, Laser Beams, Weighty Ghost and Archaeologists.
I don't know if this was mentioned before, but they're playing a FREE show at Yonge/Dundas Square in Toronto on June 19th and taking the stage at 9:45 as part of a music/art festival called NXNE I think. I think this is a great opportunity for any fan (causal or otherwise) to come and see the band. I'll be there for sure.
Has there been any word on when they're going to be releasing a new album? It's been 2 years now, and it would be a shame to already break that "album every 2 years streak". (Although the Hip did this year

)

I've got seven or eight shows I've taped, although they're not been edited or circulated yet. I know that loads of their shows have been taped! They are awesome live - especially Loel!

I think that they are open taping, but not trading.

Fair enough. Even more incentive to try and get to a show. I see they are playing Hamilton this week. I cannot make this one so for now I will have to settle for YouTube clips! Not the same, but I think they sound great live. Maybe they will come around on the trading thing in time.
I still do not have a grasp on how popular these guys are. In part because I wonder if they would ever do a Buffalo tour stop. It seems like they might be one of those bands that won't break the border barrier that seems to happen with some great Canadian bands. Too bad because it is great music!

So, they're announced as tour support to Editors in the UK (not the openers, but the second of three acts on the bill). Meaning they'll be playing 1-2000 capacity venues.
Hopefully it'll give the boys the wider exposure they derserve in the UK.

When they were in SF in March the venue held about 30 people. It was great! I have seen them live twice now, and have all their CD's, they are my second favourite band, behind The Hip of course.
Can't wait to see them live again...

Snoo's hopefully gonna be getting tickets for one of those shows through work (the Hammersmith one I think). I'll probably leave after Wintersleep though.

I'm surprised they aren't playing bigger venues - The Editors played Ally Pally a while back. I guess they're not as popular any more.

Sorry if this is off topic,
but would anybody happen to have a recording of Wintersleep covering Neil's Words (Between The Lines Of Age)?

Yeah, I've got press passes coming for the Southampton one... you're welcome to come down for some extra Wintersleep if you wish sir!

I just read that Wintersleep will be performing in front of their biggest crowd yet in Halifax on July 11th.
That's right, the boys are opening for the Walrus. (Plaskett is playing the show as well).
Goddam.
Maybe I'll go now.

kinda of a crazy itinerary:
Jul 10 Ottawa
Jul 11 Halifax
July 12 County Kildare, Ireland
They will need to leave right after the McCartney gig to catch a flight to Ireland.

If they're in Ireland, they might as well hope over the water and hit London as well, eh?
