i would rather watch american idol(which makes me want to gouge out my eyeballs) than see edmonton win another cup.
it's probably not cool to be a canucks fan, but hockey ended way too early(as usual)this year.now i will watch nascar aand cheer for dale jr.
he is hopelessly painful to watch just like the canucks.
good luck to the home town boy(recchi) and carolina!

In our local newspaper here in PEI, they had the Oilers odds at 30/1, so a $100 bet would pay out $3000 if they win the Cup.

A guy I played poker with was in Vegas at the start of the season and put $10 on the Oil to win the cup. He says he'll win $300 or so, so that seems about right.
He also bet on the Sabres, the Canes, and Ottawa......... all $10 I think, so he's gonna be up no matter what happens as the Sabres and Canes are 30 to 1 too I believe, or they were anyway.
Lucky bastard!

I hope the Sabres win with the pure thought that they are the easier team for the Oilers to beat

I hope IF the Sabres lose they actually lose with some dignity and grace. Lindy Ruff needs to accept responsibility and stop blaming the officials every time his team loses. The entire organization seems to have a "me against the world" mentality as if the league is out to get them or something.

when everybody knows the only teams that the league's out to get is Montreal

Just friggin win already Sabres. It's not like we didn't have any chances Sunday but christ you have to bury them. It really wasn't being short on D, it was more not scoring when the chance was there (ahem mr. #61) And please get it right...It's no the orginization that feels the league is out to get them. It ANY Buffalo sports fan. We love to suffer and can't appreciate the good years w/out bitchibng about the bad
But at least it's not as bad as the "oh bring the cup back to Canada" never ending bullshit. Civic pride is well and good but you don't see me jumping up and down saying "keep that cup out of Canada now. Don't give those 'nucks something to be proud of or nuthin." LAME I can't see a Leafs fan EVER rooting wholeheartedly for another team just to have a Canadian team win it. Most fans want "thier" team to win it.
Now start the hate reply's. I can hear 'em coming already.
And for what it's worth. Win or Lose tonight, I'm still a Sabres fan. Always will be.

well, it's 13 years now since Montreal won the cup...it's about time somebody's Canadian team won! even if it was the Leafs, I'd still be at least a little bit happy, because their fans have cheered so hard for so long and shown so much patience and faith...even though we'd never hear the end of it...
like when the Red Sox won in 2004, sure i hate the red sox, and it was a crushing defeat, but then when they beat the cardinals, how could you not at least be happy for the long-time fans, many of whom had waited their entire lives just to see the Red Sox win the WS, just once! many people could die in peace after that, and it's really a beautiful thing, it's what sports are all about...coming together.

No hate mail from me. :thumb: I thought it was a good post. I think I was aiming more at Lindy Ruff than anybody. He still hasn't gotten over the Brett Hull goal. Did you see the look Lindy gave the ref after Stillman scored and Lindy was walking to the dressing room? It was a "you guys screwed us again" look.
I'm not from Buffalo but I am a Bills fan and I don't really know why. Maybe I like being tortured. The Indians also lost twice in the World Series in the 90's and the Suns lost a heartbreaker to the Bulls in 93. Maybe I need to pick new teams.

cratch:
I'm pure Canadian and I don't want the Oilers to win.

I rooted against the Senators also. The only team I want to win is the Canucks but that looks unlikely to happen in my lifetime.
