A bit steep? did you forget what the package includes? I think 61 is a good price.
I agree with bean..I thought it was going to be more than that, that to me seems a fair price. If you break it down its a great deal actually:

Double Album Greatest Hits plus two new songs- What would a double album usually run in the stores alone, $20-30 maybe? Think Neil Young's Decade, SP's Mellon Collie or the Beatles White Album? (yeah I know the Beatles are the Beatles, but hey the Hip is the Hip.. Smile )

A DVD "That Night In Toronto"- A regular DVD of a band can run anywhere from $25 to 50 bucks. ie: Led Zeppelin

Toss in a 48 page book and another DVD of all the bands videos and "other things"

Sounds like a great deal to me, assuming thats the price.

Usually when things get packagede together they are a bit cheaper, no big deal I would assume they will have a one day sale on the release day of 40 or so bucks, that is my guess.

CD Plus has about the same price.

I guess there will be no Hip Club discount? Tongue Tongue   Big Grin

- lilbones - 08-10-2005

What's this Hip Club you speak of?

- mark - 08-11-2005

that amazon price is before any discounts. you almost never see an item for sale at the regular price. my guess it that it will be below the $60 level when you can actually order it

- Tthip - 08-11-2005

Damn - it looks like you can order just the 2 disk greatest hits for $12.99. That is pretty cheap.

Greatest Hits - Rob_JH - 08-11-2005

$60 sounds like a bargain to me - here in the UK, that translates to about £28; considering most chart albums in the shops here go for around £14.99 (or $34.74). Two CD's and two DVD's for that price is great.

I only hope Maple Music stock it... but I imagine everyone is Europe is hoping that!

First post, BTW. Hello all!

There are 11 pages in this thread so far so if I'm mentioning something that someone else did, I'm sorry in advance.

Anyways, I was thinking. The Hip will probably tour a little in November and December in support of their Greatest Hits. So what are they going to play live????? There are songs on this greatest hits package they haven't played in quite some time. Do you think they will take a look back and play some of these songs to support the disc? We know they won't play Fiddler's Green, but what about the others. Here is a run down of the track listing and my comments about what I think will happen.

1. No Threat - YES, They'll Play this for sure to support the new disc
2. Grace, Too - YES
3. My Music At Work - YES, a closer or beginning of the set.
4. 38 Years Old - NO, we want to hear it but it's been over 10 years.
5. Gift Shop - YES, still makes often appearances.
6. Ahead By A Century - YES, first song in the 1st or 2nd encore
7. Vaccination Scar - YES
8. Three Pistols - Probably. It has been played in the recent years so I'll say yes.
9. So Hard Done By - YES, not every night but it'll make an appearance.
10. Fiddler's Green - NO, enough said.
11. Looking For A Place To Happen - YES, probably at least a couple times on the tour.
12. Cordelia - NO, they played it in 2000 for the 1st time in a while but I don't think it'll make it.
13. It's A Good Life If You Don't Weaken - YES
14. Blow At High Dough - YES, probably the closer on almost all nights.
15. Wheat Kings - YES, I think this song ranked pretty high in favorites
16. 50 Mission Cap - YES, maybe in Toronto only.
17. New Orleans Is Sinking - YES, no show will not have this song.
18. Escape Is At Hand For The Travelin' Man - YES, it'll make a few appearances.

"Yer Favourites" Disc Two
1. Fully Completely - YES
2. Twist My Arm - YES, not that often but It'll be in there at least once.
3. Courage - YES, every show for sure.
4. Lake Fever - YES, here and there it'll get played.
5. Poets - YES, almost all shows.
6. Fireworks - YES, almost all shows.
7. Boots Or Hearts - Very likely it'll get played but not that often.
8. Bobcaygeon - YES, almost all shows
9. Nautical Disaster YES, almost all shows
10. Highway Girl - NO, This would be the greatest surprise if they did it.
11. Gus: The Polar Bear From Central Park - YES, almost all shows
12. Scared - YES, it'll get played but not that often
13. Something On - YES, it made it back into a few setlists in 2004 so most likely it'll get some play
14. At The Hundredth Meridian - YES, all shows
15. Long Time Running - YES Encore song, not much play but it'll be there.
16. The Darkest One - NO, I have a feeling this won't get played at all. Prove me wrong and I'll be happy.
17. Locked In The Trunk Of A Car - YES, not that frequently, but this is a song that needs to be played every night
18. Little Bones - YES, almost all shows
19. The New Maybe (New Song) - YES, have to support the new disc.

Why all the yelling? They are soon to be released items. Lots of retailers show them as coming soon.

- thehip11 - 08-15-2005
