Not a big fan, but oh well, it's only one song.. you can't like them all. It's not bad but it's definitely not in the upper half of their material catalogue. The White Stripes guitar part seemed kind of out of place to me as well.

I was worried after hearing just the clip prior, but after hearing the full version.............................this song rocks, I am really liking it

Cool song. Reminds me a bit of The Hold Steady, especially Gord's little rant after the first chorus. The Jack White/Tom Morello guitar solo is very different from what we're used to hearing from Rob Baker. It's kinda bizarre, but it's cool to see he's still stretching himself as a guitar player this far into his career. I like the guitars, the lyrics are great, and the chorus is ridiculously catchy. It's a very unique song for the Hip, and it definitely doesn't sound like anything they've done before. They said this album was going to have something for everybody and showcase the dynamic range of the band, and they weren't kidding. So far we've heard two wildly different songs from opposite ends of the spectrum. I like that. This song is gonna be amazing live.

I hate saying this, cause the song is growing on me, but the one thing that bugs me the most about the song is that Gord doesn't deviate very much from the main tune. I dont know if anyone else notices that but in old hip songs he used to go his own way. It a good song though.

Just wait until you hear it live. I'm sure he'll deviate like crazy during this tune, especially during his rant after the first chorus. You have to remember, when you're recording in the studio it's a lot more structured and you generally don't want to deviate from the song too much. With a band like the Hip, improvisation is almost always saved for the live show.
