Yeah, I had the same reaction. Kind of sounds like the Great Lake Swimmers too and my guess is that GLS will tour with them...They'll be releasing their new album around that time, and so far 'Pulling on a Line' and 'She comes to me in Dreams' fits nicely with MM...maybe after GLS' European tour...
I pulled out a Ron Sexsmith kind of sound as well as the above.

Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

direwolf74 Wrote:Just listened to Morning Moon for the first time. Wow, what a beautiful song! I love the idea of starting the album off with an acoustic track, which is something they've never done before. Great song. Gorgeous lyrics. Gord's voice sounds fantastic and the production is absolutely perfect. It sounds a bit more raw than the last album. World Container had much more of that Bob Rock polish/sheen to it. This track sounds like it was done pretty much live-off-the-floor, which is a very good sign. I had a feeling that if they got Bob into the Bathouse to produce this record, he'd be inspired by the rustic nature of the studio and record the band accordingly. Thumbs up!

I'm not in love with the tune yet....YET. I won't judge any production points until I have a studio copy; streamed music on my PC speakers never sounds good from a technical standpoint. I definitely dig the mood and feel of the cut, though....I'm always able to get behind songs from good 'rock bands' that have that country/western tinge.

My exact thought upon listening for the first time this morning.

So is there anyone here who doesn't like the song? I love it but I remember a decent amount of people being kind of iffy on "In View" when it was first unveiled... Seems like the general consensus is that this is a better tune, though, and I agree.

It's obviously a better song than In View.

Frankly, I would have to agree. Morning Moon is definitely a better song than In View IMHO.
I remember thinking "oh geez, I'm not sure what direction they are taking" when I first heard In View.

I am personally still on the fence.
But since today is Friday and I'll be downing a couple of drinks tonight, I am sure I will love it by morning.

And as I think about it - I am never too happy with the first songs they let us hear off of the past couple of albums. MMAW, Good Life, In View and Vaccination Scar. None are on my "wish I see it in concert" list. Ever.
BUT - this song so far blows those four away. So that's something, after only one day.

You like it better than Good Life?

I like many, many things better than IAGLIYDW.

Re: We Are The Same Discussion - Cookie.factory_West.Wind - 02-13-2009

I like it, but it sounds kind of as I wind down the pines seguing into a rather soft alt-country tune. Here's to WATS.

I can't tell if your comment is a joke or serious...
