Whats everyone do for a living??? where do you work thread - crazykid - 10-28-2006

Well as we all know we all share a common connection - the hip.

But why not create a thread where we can network amongst ourselves, maybe find smeone who work in your same office you had no idea was a hip fan, maybe someone who works up the street, or maybe just someone who works somwhere that you might need to contact in the future. Maybe someone wil have questions about a certian career... who knows.

Ill start:

Im a Business Manager for a Honda Dealership in Souther Ontario - all the way down in Woodstock Ontario ( about 30 minutes west of KW - 30 mins East of London ) I look after all the financing of customers, extended warranty sales - and of course I get to sell a few cars while im at it.

I'm a partner at TwinPro Graphic Consultants.

We manage print and design projects for a range of clients from the very small (250 business cards every 6 months) to the very large (POP & POS along with sales support materials for MNCs). Through our network of trade suppliers we are able to meet deadlines while satisfying any budget concerns. Since we do not have any production equipment of our own we are not constrained to the limitations of our equipment - enabling our clients the freedom to design any project they want without worrying about how they will produce it. If it can be done, we can do it.

Math Teacher - 8th Grade.

For the most part, it is Algebra and Geometry. There is a big state assessment in March and a lot of pressure for the students to perform up to par. This is my biggest challenge especially knowing the home life of some of the students Cry.

On a positive note, our district scores have improved each year and look to continue. We currently have 71% meeting requirements. This sounds rough but compared to the city of Buffalo's 29% it is not as bad as some may think.

This is my third year teaching (graduated college in 2003). I just finished my Master's this summer in Educational Technology. I love what I do and hope that with budget cuts and declining student enrollment I will still be doing this a few years from now.

I'm a VP at a market research firm. But we specialize in online research so don't whine to me about someone calling you at dinner!

I'm a master's student at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. Originally I was hoping to study the early days of hockey and it's impact on Canadian culture, but other more important things got in the way, and now I'm here getting as broad of an education as possible; maybe I'll help our PM with his book one day.

This year I'm also the A&E editor at our paper. This is easilly the greatest thing I've ever done. Why you ask? Well, after this Monday, I get to put CBC Radio Corespondant on my CV. Through a deal with the radio up here, our section will be doing a number of reviews for them throughout the year. Man, I've gotta find a way to keep this up after I graduate.

Cheers,

Pat

I'm a sports writer at everybody's favourite right-wing newspaper, the National Post (despite my left leanings, its a great place to work, at least in sports), and am completing my fourth and final year of the journalism program at Ryerson University.

I got offered a new job yesterday! Big Grin I will be working for an architects firm in London as an Illustrator/Designer, which will mainly involve fleshing out concept drawings for clients. I'm really looking forward to starting.

I am currently working out my notice (or will be when I hand it in Wink) at my local Golf Club on the bar. Enjoyable temp work, but temp work none the less.

Undergraduate student at Dalhousie University. Studying commerce.

I guess this isn't exactly "work" yet, as much as preparing for it.

I work at Canada Post, right now Im in mail processing, but next year I will be a Letter-Carrier again, cant wait. Actually I love my job, the pay is good and being a LC is the best job Ive ever had. Think about it, how would you like it if you could go home as soon as your work is done and get paid for 8hrs even if you only worked 5? Sweet deal, plus the regular walking does me alot of good, I guess the only downside would be the bad weather days.

I work for the Federal Government in finance. I was hoping to take a few months off when Lance and I transfered to Halifax, but I've had 5 job opportunities since we've been here. I couldn't turn this job down.

Name, rank, serial number, etc.... I got it. Smile

James Gamble, aka JAG, aka gambler.

I'm a Rail Traffic Controller with Canadian Pacific (CP Rail) here in Calgary. I've been doing it for 3.5 years now, and been living here for over five years now. It's a cool job with a strange lifestyle... I work straight nights most of the time, and get paid to play with trains. Seeing as I've liked trains since I was a kid, it's a good deal.
