August 8 2000 was the date, if I'm not mistaken, that the Rage/Beastie Boys tour was suppose to touch down at Molson Park in Barrie. A Beastie seperates a shoulder, tour gets cancelled, Rage breaks up.

So yeah, Rage, Ben Folds Five, Soundgarden, Blur, The Watchmen. I guess all have no versions of the old thing, but none nearly as good (or in some cases) life altering. I can vividly remember the first time I heard Killing in the Name and saying something to the extent of "where have you been all my life"

Cheers

Pat

I remember that, I was soooo pissed off! I was all set to go to that show too.. Sad I cant believe you mentioned Blur..I used to love those guys, in their earlier days anyway, that last album with the woo hoo song was awful.

Always paranoid to post as a newbie....but that self titled blur album (with the woohoo song) is brilliant. Forget about the woohoo song. If I never hear it again it will be too soon, but what a giant leap forward with that record. Dont know if anyones heard 13 (the one after that). Came out around the same time as OK Computer and was completely overshadowed by it. Theres no other album like OK Computer, but 13 is unlike anything Ive ever heard. These damn french keyboards dont have the proper punctuation keys.

- Lizard King - 08-19-2005

I remember 13 but buy then I had lost all interest in Blur, so I never really gave it a proper listen.

Just a little side note about Radiohead, looks like they have a new album in the works.. http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2005/08/1909.cfm There's another band I dont care for anymore, its a weird thing with Radiohead, I used to love that band...then Kid A-hole ruined that relationship. Kid A and Hail to the Thief might be great and progressive in there own right, but I just didnt like there new sound, still dont.

Wow, there's a blast from the past. I have seen them countless times, and even have an album of theirs, but I could only ever get into one or two songs. The rest I thought were more filler than anything.

I feel the exact same way! And most people would stone a person for thinking that! The Bends and OK Computer are two of my favorite albums of all time, and then I was hugely disappointed with what followed.

I don't know if anyone remembers them, but I miss Zuckerbaby... I don't know if they're a hipbase allowed kinda band, but they were fun. Smile

They just toured not too long ago, and put an album a few years ago. Fantastic album too.

Thanks for the link. I knew that they were working on a record but forgot that they fulfilled their contract with EMI. Personally, Im a radiohead fanatic in that I think they are the best example of a band progessing musically. I had hoped they would screw the idea of a lable and finance their own what-the-fuck-is-that type of record now that they can afford to.

Odds
Barstool Prophets
Limblifter
Wild T & The Spirit
Mesenjah
Me Mom Morgentaller

Just a few that popped into my head.

I was going to mention those two, I didnt want to make a 3 page post, but yeah Odds and Limblifter were cool bands. I recall seeing Odds and Change Of Heart open for the Hip in Hamilton 95, thats when I started liking them both. I love when someone mentions a band or something that you totally forgot about but used to really like and your blown away, lets keep it going!
