Looks like trouble (I just knew it) -
Christian Schutz - 09-14-2004
So as the dates started to appear, I noticed the trend of only 1 show per city. What was most alarming about this was not the fact that they were shutting some fans out (although in some cities where they routinely sell out 2-4 shows that had to be the case), but the fact that the set lists were then more likely to feature the obligitory hits. The summer festival shows had me fearing setlists like that, but I had thought that on a more major tour (which we're barely getting) they'd have cause to change it up a bit more, especially if they were playing the same venue on back to back nights. When the dates first appeared I held out hope that there'd be no opener and more of "An Intimate Evening With..." two set possibility, not that two sets would be necessary for a longer, more comprehensive setlist (look at Pearl Jam). I am almost out of hope for such a thing after Kingston. I also agree that it makes me less likely to travel and pay for a bunch of shows. Bummer.

I just hope they play NOIS at least once per show. I always have to yell at Gord so he remembers to play it. Man I love getting drunk and singing along while I wave my Canadian flag.

Oh, man! I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read this or my monitor and keyboard would've been trashed! 5 stars!

I'm waiting to see how the setlists pan out for the beginning of the US tour. I'd love to go to all three shows in my area (Toronto, London, Hamilton), but if the sets are all pretty much the same then I'll just go to Toronto.

i was thinking more along the line of springtime, or blow, maybe even bones, these are songs we never get to hear! kinda like gift shop from 96-2002, never heard that one! however, being serious, i know they play it a couple times, there is nothing quite like hearing 50mc in toronto, especially when we used to go to the gardens! but now....."new building, same death"!

I have to disagree with all of you. You think that the same four Hip songs played six times live is a great concert? You can hear NOIS, 50 MC, and Bones played six times in a week on Canadian radio. How about something none of us hear on the radio, or something that they never play live anymore. I saw them on Canada Day at the Molson Amp. They didn't play a single song from Road Apples. Not one!! No Bones, no Twist My Arm, no Cordelia, no Three Pistols, no On The Verge. This is one of their greatest albums and they didn't play squat. I want to hear stuff from Up To Here and Road Apples and Fully Completely and Day For Night, and hell, even Trouble at the Henhouse that they just don't play anymore. NOIS six times in one concert is not funny nor a great concert. I would be demanding my money back. I love this band for more than just their radio hits. :thumb:

I agree with most. NOIS should be played at least every third song, followed by a Nickleback cover after each NOIS is played. There should be 3 songs per encore, and 2 of them should be NOIS. Actually, why don't they just play that song all night? Within a day or two, New Orleans actually will be sinking.

I got so excited when IBE came out because I thought they had rereleased NOIS, but instead it's some crap about New Orleans is *Beat*. I mean, come on, if it's not sinking, why would you want to sing about it. Geez.
