Hi all,

As some of you have noticed, the FTP has been down for a few weeks now...

Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to keep it updated - and with my wife and I working a lot from home more often, I just can't spare the bandwidth.

I started the site to spread around all the cool Hip stuff that I had so much trouble finding when I became a fan in way back in my college days.

With Bit Torrents (and Chris' awesome Hiptracker site) being the great new way to spread around content, the 'ole FTP site is a little old-school now anyway... Smile

I'd like to thank all those who contributed to the site by uploading or mailing in content to the site. I've 'met' quite a few great Hip fans (and great people) over the past years hosting the site.

Although I'll make use of the computer, I will be more than willing to send the HD that contains all the content to someone if they will take good care of it - maybe even use it to start a site of their own. If you would be interested, let me know (post, email or PM me). It is a 100 GB ATA HD. Currently housed in my old PowerMac G4.

I hope you all enjoyed the site - it was fun helping get the Hip's music out there.

Jerremy
Sorry to hear that you're packin' her in. The FTP has been a great resource for the community and will be missed. It supplied me with some of my first bootlegs and got me hooked.
Me too. I had many hours of connectedness....

Thanks you for the many quality MB's
Jerremy... I'll take it, and get it re-established. Save that domain as well, 'cause I'll be happy to assume it as well.

And of course, thanks for creating such a great resource. I remember fondly a 40 disc swap that we made when you were getting it started up.
My vote would be for chris. I'd love to see the thehundredthmeridian.com survive!
ya. thanks a bunch jerremy for carrying the torch for awhile. I used the site a lot, even uploaded a show or two.

Nice to see you willing to take the torch, chris. It really makes the most sense if you ask me.
Thanks dude.

(infinite appreciate expressed)
Thanks Jerremy for all the time and effort!

I would take on the project if I had a extra mac and more bandwidth.

my gratitude should also be expressed to you too. Thanks for your efforts as well!
Hi again all,

Thanks for all the nice words in the posts, emails and PMs.

Chris, it would be great to send it along to you - I know it will be going to a great place. I believe the domain name expires at the end of the month. If you'd like this as well, we can see if I can transfer it to you before it expires. PM me with your address and I will get it packed up and sent out. Some content is on a small external firewire drive - I'll burn some DVDs of this stuff to be able to send you everything.

I remember that big CD swap way back when. I had an FTP site with nothing on it, then you sent in a ton of shows that I was able to get right on there. That really got it started up.

It's a bummer... I hated turning off the server when 5 people were connected and downloading becuase I was home and I needed to connect to work to get something done...

Anyway... It looks like it will be going to a good place. Thanks again everyone.

Jerremy
Many thanks for the time and effort you put in Jeremy. I got a bunch of stuff from the site that I wouldn't have gotten anywhere else before I found out about BT etc. I Wish I was able to give back what I have received.
Good luck Chris. I'm sure the drive is in good hands w/all you have done for us too.
Mark
thanks jerremy for al the great hip shows i have goten from your site, itd much appreciated
So Jerremy and I have discussed it, and thehundredthmeridian.com will live on...

Once I receive the drive I will get about 20Gb online immediately with a daily transfer limit of about 30Gb... so I don't think that we'll have any usage issues!

Stay tuned...
cool. Thanks guys
The ftp. was where I got all my first Hip downloads as well, I owe you a big thanks Jerremy! Nice to see its going to very good hands, thanks to Chris for taking it on. Im sure it will still be of benefit to some people.
Many a great show came my way through thehip.org and hundrethmeridian starting out. Thanks again Jeremy for everything; there's probably no better person than Chris to be taking this over right now after the roaring success of the Hip tracker.

Cheers,

Pat
