I'm just back from the Calgary City and Colour show. Dallas Green was talking about touring overseas and how its nice to be back in Canada. He then said here's a song I didn't write but a friend of mine did and played a lovely solo acoustic version of Bobcaygeon. The arena lit up with cellphones and it gave me chills. Can't imagine what it will be like in August to hear Gordie sing it for real.

Has anyone else been at a recent live show where the artist or band mentioned Gord or played a Hip cover? It would be nice to hear about it here.

I was at the Vancouver City and Colour show and he played it here as well with the same response; cell phones and lighters held high. People around me were crying. It was beautiful.

And I know this one has been posted already, but here's Feist with her gorgeous version of Flamenco. Just 'cause it's awesome.

Hey Rosetta! Have been doing ABAC.

"They're all for Gord but this one's for Gord."

Hayden's been doing ABAC as well. I guess no one wants to touch the rockers.

Not a live cover, but Hockey Night in Canada again used The Hip tonight for the intro to Game 6. Ahead By A Century played during the opening montage/tribute to Gordie Howe. Saw a pic of George Stroumboulopoulos on fb tonight too wearing a "they shot a movie once in my hometown" tshirt.

Not live, but Joel Plaskett just released 'Just Because (for Gord Downie)'.
A song about sitting around a campfire singing Hip songs.

From a show at the Danforth few years ago, but here's Ben Gibbard's take on Music at Work.

Best part was Gord was in the audience and we got to chat with him after the show.
I have heard, maybe, 3 covers of Hip songs that I've liked. Feist's was one, and Chris Kostner's Fully Completely was another:

A few years old now. I had high hopes when I heard Gordie Johnson did a cover of Boots or Hearts, was thinking it would be a great bluesy version, but can't say I am a fan of it at all.
