What song do you feel should have been on one of The Hips albums, that didnt make the cut.

I personally think that it's a damn shame that Radio Show or Ouch didn't make the cut

Crack My Spine Like a Whip
Blonde Solid
Bumblebee
Night is for Getting
If You lived Here

I'd say Dante's the best of the lot though, hard to imagine that Day For Night could have been ever better than it is but Dante definately should have been on that album, it would have fit in perfectly on DFN
Ultra Mundane and Night Is Forgetting would be my top 2.
Crack My Spine Like a Whip
Problem Bears and Get Back Again
Problem Bears and Dante...
Every year I ask Santa for a studio recording of "Work That Hard", and every year I'm left empty handed...

I think there would be a lot more love for "Work That Hard" (maybe at a Blonde Solid, or Radio Show level) if there was a proper recording of it. Even though the only version available is barely audible, and has a gap in it right before the second verse, it is one of my favourite songs (as my signature can testify).
i think Dante could have been a classic if they'd recycled it for TATH. it doesnt have much of DFN vibe to me, but it would work perfectly on that TATH.

out of curiousity, did the opening lick from 700 ft ceiling evolve out of you see details?
I think Montreal should have gone onto Road Apples. What a song!
Speaking of Dante, does someone have a good copy of it they could send me, I have this really shitty one that skips like every 5 seconds

I do not really know if there is a great version of Dante out there.
But you can try here, it is under demos - day 4 night:

This is taken from, I believe, and old Hip newsletter:

"We have this cool song Win Win Win Situation which has never made the final hurdle to a place on one of our records. Everyone liked the tune and it hung around for a long, long time. Once you realize a song may not ever get on a record you have to decide what to do about it. What we tend to do is start exploding it. You stick a bomb in it and you look for the most interesting pieces. You twist them around, try to reassemble it, change the rhythm of it or change the chords a bit here and there. Fooling around with the song may inspire someone to play a different lick and re-energize the tune. 700 Ft. Ceiling came out of mucking around with Win Win Win Situation even though they don't sound alike at all."
