I just got back from the "Halifax Premiere" (whatever that means) of Hannibal Rising. Its no Silence of the Lambs, but its 100 times better than that crap on film known as "Hannibal".
Oh, and if you are from in and around Saskatoon... sleep with one eye open

.
Hmm...I was planning on staying as far away from this movie as possible, but perhaps I'll give it a chance when it hits the cheap theatre.
Oh, and for the record, I liked Hannibal. Sure it was much more campy than Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon, and Manhunter, but there were some great scenes in that flick.
I forgot about that old Manhunter flick.
Out of the 4 I've seen, I'd rank them like this:
1. Silence
2. Red Dragon
3. Hannibal Rising
4. Hannibal
The whole Ray Liotta finale in Hannibal off set any of thoughts of the movie being good up to that point. I remember trying to contain my laughter.
Maybe I'm just sick and twisted as well.

A lot of folks argue that Manhunter is superior to any of the other Hannibal Lecter Films. I still think Silence of the Lambs was the best one, followed closely by Red Dragon. Manhunter was an excellent movie, but Michael Mann cut out too much of the book, and Brian Cox wasn't half as good as Anthony Hopkins in the Lecter role. However, I did think William Petersen (AKA Gil Grissom) was better in the role of Agent Graham. Edward Norton was good, but I always thought he was a little too young to play a retired FBI profiler.
Just my 2 cents.
How is Dominic West in it (aka Inspector Pascal Popil)? He's great in The Wire, so just wondering how he does in a movie.

Decent. He's not in it that much, and this movie is extremely forgettable. And...

The final scene in the movie takes place "In a small town outside of Saskatoon". Don't worry folks, none of the plot has been revealed/ruined.
Really? I also heard the entire movie The Messengers was filmed in Regina. Saskatchewan is Hollywood North now.
