anyone familiar with the layout at HOB ?
I called direct to and they are sold out of reserved seating and only have GA available
Except for HOB "upgrades" ...starting at $50 per seat ...all the way up to $400 for a private box ?
So I went to ticketmaster to grab GA seats for $25 , plus $3 for handing , plus another $7.50 for venue fee and then take you pick of mailing fees...
I'm wondering if the $50 "upgrade" is worth it... either that or just buy GA from the box office once we arrive there
If you go to ticketmaster or live nation they give you a seating diagram, also the HOB Las Vegas gives you some pictures of the place

Going down with some friends from Halifax to Vegas to see the HIP. Anyone been to a show at the HOB? I've been there before, but never for a concert. Should be a good time...staying for three nights.

HoB in Vegas is a small place, there really is no bad spot IMO, even on the floor, which I prefer, even though I am only 5'7".
I would save your $50 and buy a t-shirt and some beer or something...

I saw the Hip there in August of 2002. The place was rather packed, although that was a Friday night. Anyway, a few things to be aware of:
1. No one at the venue gives a rat's ass about whether your seats are in the balcony or on the floor. I had four seats in the balcony, moseyed my way right onto the floor with no problems whatsoever, and enjoyed the show from a great front row vantage point.
2. If you want to grab dinner before the show, I would recommend doing so at the restaurant that is right next door to the HOB (might even be built into the venue; I don't remember). My wife and I did this, and to our surprise at the end of our meal, we were escorted directly to the front of the line of people waiting to get in. Apparently it's a standard inclusion when you dine there on a show night (assuming you have tickets to the show). It was fun to feel like a VIP for about 30 seconds!
NOTE: this was going on 5 years ago, so if things have changed since then and either / neither of the above mentionings hold true, please don't hold me responsible!
I live in Salt Lake, which is all of a 6 hour drive from Vegas, but alas I am not going. The last Vegas show and the Phoenix AZ show the following night were the end of an era for me. 4 1/2 years later, I have 3 kids and a much tighter budget so no more Hip shows for me since the boys only stop here for killer Mexican food at the Red Iguana while on tour.
Within minutes of buying the tickets on the opening day I got an email from HOB about reserving for dinner. Eventually we did reserve spots and part of their package is that they take you in past the line ( I think your already in the building ) and get you into the venue.

so I think it's take your chances
we are thinking about a good disposable one just in case

I shot plenty of pics there the last time they played. But I think sometimes there's a communication breakdown between the performer and the venue right up until showtime at which point the venue chills out and lets people do what they want.
In my experience, for every show I have gone to in the U.S (Vegas 02, SF 02 and 04) the tickets have NO CAMERAS printed on them. I *think* the standard policy is such, so they just print the tickets with that on them. I have taken my camera to all the shows and have had no problem getting it in at either the HoB in Vegas or The Fillmore in San Francisco.
My recommendation would be to get to the venue early and be nice to the staff at the door, you *should* be fine.

Ok in Looking at the cover songs that the HIP have played in almost every venue during this current tour, there appears to be a common thread, whether it was Sudbury Saturday night in Sudbury or a Teenage head song in Hamilton. I see last night in Atlanta they played a REM ( Michael STIPE ) song...so what do you think will be played in Vegas...my pick is of course
VIVA LAS VEGAS, I think Gord would be a great Elvis, I think he would end up doing a whole routine in the Elvis mode

Gord's gonna pull out a Killers tune. Remember, his daughter loves them and they are from Vegas I believe.
Actually, this probably won't happen. As long as Gord doesn't do a Wayne Newton number or anything, it'll be all good.
