Whaaaaaaat?

Why did they think getting Raine Maida on vocals would do the trick? Very odd.

I cannot begin to say how many big-name musicians I've heard reference Midnight Oil as an influence, or a band they enjoy listening to, or a band whose work and performance are held in high regard.

I should probably pick up some of their stuff on that account alone. I used to have one of their tapes when I was in HS.... it was the one with that song that starts "Out where the river broke / the bloodwood and the desert oak"....was that "Beds are Burning" or something like that?

Yep, that's Beds are Burning, from the album Diesel and Dust. I really miss Midnight Oil, their shows were phenomenal.

They're heading back into the studio this year...if he rejoined, I think it would be a huge boost to the band's career which has never been the same since he left.

I totally agree. I've been a huge REM fan for years, but I don't really like anything they've done since he left. There's definitely been something missing. I never realized how important he was to the band until he was gone.

You're right. The vocals are definitely not up to par. :rambo:

The one Canadian band that I missed a few opportunities to see live was The Tea Party.

I don't know if re-uniting is a good idea for any band. There's are reasons why bands break up and it's probably best for them to stay broken up.

saw blind melon, tea party and 13 engines at the warehouse winter 93. would like to see Axl get it together and play\record with Blind Melon.
I would like to see Catherine Wheel get back together since they were "parked" back in 2000 ("parked" being the band's term for disbanding).

Creedence Clearwater should be revived as well.

The Cult needs Jamie Stewart to rejoin.

Masters of Reality needs to reform with Ginger Baker back on drums (maybe Clapton will sit in on a number or two!!! That'd be sweeeet.)

Hey, The Sweet should do one last Ballroom Blitz while we're at it.

Elastica Redux would probably go over well in today's alt-indie climate (their debut album back in '93 is a blueprint for everything post-Strokes).

Erik B. needs to get back with Rakim (yeah, I'm dating myself thoroughly).

And what about Faith No More (no wait... Faith Yes More!!) circa the Angel Dust days? Another blueprint album, but for the Rap/Metal crowd.

Screaming Trees, Soul Coughing, and The Stone Roses... all obviously need to happen. Too many great tunes that need playing.

Two of my all-time favorites, Swell and Six by Seven, would override any of the above if they were to get going again.

And finally, it would be great see bands like U2, R.E.M., and even Our Lady Peace reunited with their missing cajones. Now that would be something. Smile

NICE! :thumb:

The only reason I'm actually okay with six by seven being no longer is that F**K Me USA is the best album I've heard in quite some time. Chris Olley and James Flower can keep doing that as far as I'm concerned. It's basically six by seven anyway, since they've kept shedding members on every album since the debut.

Speaking of which, I would still like to see the entire band that made The Things We Make. What an album.

did you ever get to see them live?
saw them at the horseshoe...good but not great...a bit too "speed/volume/metal/louder/thrash!" as opposed to the albums, which -- at least at times -- have some air to them.

haven't kept tabs on them lately...will have to check out the f**K ME USA you speak of. :thumb:
i remember getting the things we make ages ago at a used store for $8.99.
and then hearing the first two tunes and trying to pick up my jaw off the floor. everything else pails a tad in comparison, but, beautiful shape and european me....HOLY :rambo: :rambo: :rambo:

i would completely agree with you if their second album, the Menace, kind of a reunion in and of itselt, didnt suck so hard. it took like 9 years to put out or something and i cant listen to it (though their first album is on my most played list)

never heard it. And maybe I'll leave it that way. Thanks for the heads up.

I just found my old copy of the Elastica debut, severely scratched up, but once on the iPod I was surprise at how current it sounds. Lightning in a bottle I guess.
