He was booked to perform in Prince George a few days after the Hip come through in a few weeks. A major influence in modern music, he will be missed.

He helped Rocky IV be the best Rocky movie of the series, Living in America.... But I Got You (I Feel Good), his most iconic song is one of the greatest songs of all time. He was a commanding performer as well. I remember the first day of Woodstock '99 being opened by a surprise performance by James Brown and he rocked out something fierce.

NMAS wants me to give my brain a shake. I would if not for everyone I know's fav Rocky film is Rocky IV. But NMAS must be a traditionalist living in a world where sequels are never better, that's cute.

I saw James Brown when he performed in Calgary around this time last year. It was one of the most energetic shows I've ever seen. That guy could dance better at 73 than I can at 23.
