Hey just got in from the thursday in the square show... Got there a little too early and caught the soundcheck its such an awkward set up with a huge monument located in the center of the square- big crowd not sure of the number but it was jammed( side note Beer $1.50, Pop 1.99 @ TGIF's @ dinner) anyways really nice night for an outside concert, thou there were alot of technical difficulties and not alot of gord talking he came out dawning a perrault buffalo sabres jersey signed .. Show highlight for me was " The never ending present" but have to say that Hawksley Workman's set was impressive quite a show he puts on ...Setlist was /sortof

Was also at the show. Thursday At The Square is always packed, and Ryan is right, it's an odd set-up. However, years back when the venue started out, you maybe got a couple thousand people there max, which meant it wasn't much of an odd set-up.

In any event, The Buffalo News reports there were between 20,000 and 50,000 people there last night. I think the latter is a big exaggerated, but it was packed. It was dead early on, and I thought we were all in for a treat with the low turn out. But, around 6:30, everyone showed up!!

Honestly, this is the second time I've seen Gord solo, and even though the songs and the band was on, the sound was crappy! Granted, it's a free show, and I think one of the speakers (to the left of the stage) was crackling a bit. However, Gord was great. He messed up the lyrics on a few songs, including Pascal's Submarine (left out almost an entire verse)...but it was great.

He came out in a Sabres #11 Perrault jersey for a couple songs, which was sweet! He shed that quickly, because it was HOT! He was in playful spirits, wishing people he knew a happy birthday, and wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July!

I took some pictures from the left of the stage where we were at, and I'll be posting a link for them within a couple days.

I wasn't impressed with the openers, though. I didn't think Hawksley was anything to write home about, but that's just my opinion. I wasn't fond of his style of music. Again, that's just me.

well let me start by saying it was my first time attending thursday in the square. It was alot smaller place than i thought it would be ,but the place was packed. when the band noticed the people in the office building
leaning out the window, dale morningstar saying " you have the best seats here then gord saying something about the book depositor building.
i notice on the liberty building behind the stage that it has a statute of liberty on either end. the show was great sound was crap but maybe because sound man on side of stage instead of out in front. really enjoyed fortunate son gord saying this is a pearl jam song,.

I too was there. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I think I need a new pair of feet though. Managed to catch the last song of the soundcheck too. We stood up against the stage the whole time. It was worth it. Managed to get a setlist! :thumb: The show was great. The classic autographed Sabers Perrault jersey was awesome (it was good to see the old colors again). But the sound the whole time kinda sucked we were at the right side of the stage and there was way too much high end coming out of it. I guess thats the trade off of being up front. Along with a monster headache and a few days worth of ear ringing! About 2/3 into the show Gord snapped a string on his acoustic. Can't remember what song it was. He looked irritated though. It was definately hot that day and tons of people. I think that he broke the attendance record. I would love to hear official numbers. Was not too impressed with Hawksley, great musicians, but I just did not get into them too much. I thought Cuff The Duke was better. All in all it was a great day.
