I have a mini which i bought a couple years ago and a new nano. i use them mostly for running. when using the nano you can barely tell it is on your arm. both are fine as you can random shuffle or make playlists. the nano gets like 1,000 songs while the mini gets many more but for running i would have no use for that many other than to avoid replays day after day.

Yeah, I've been pretty vocal about my portable music preferences and probably a little obnoxious at times... :oops:... but ultimately it comes down to figuring out which player is best for whomever is buying it.
Maybe it's context; age; the onset of winter; I don't know, but I've realized the beauty of these "iPod or other" threads; people are considering their options and that's been the foundation of my argument all along.
I've read good and bad things about the Zune. The concept is solid but MS failed miserable in execution. On top of it being about four years too late, limiting music purchases to a specialized store instead of continuing to grow the PlaysForSure network is just dumb. If it was PFS compatible it might have a chance but as it is, I think it'll be dead in the water.
If I were to buy any portable music player on the market today, I think it would be the
Stilletto 100.

I agree...I know a few people who have it and they are really impressed. it's a big ticket item, but it's versatility is awesome. I'm saving up for the next gen...they have to develop something with more than 2gb of storage. The big difference between the stiletto and any mp3/ipod is content...only a sat radio device includes content right out of the box. Being a sirius sub. and a big Howard 100 & 101 fan I listen to those channels a min of 4 hours a day. I'm sure in the next 5 years there will be a sat "on demand" option that will really make waves...

That's a decent objective review of the Stiletto. Like all portables though, battery life is the biggest bummer. At least you get a spare and future cradles will probably have secondary charger slots like many cell-phone cradles do.
I really believe satellite services are the next big thing. I've been an XM subscriber since early '03 and got Sirius to follow Stern's Revolution. I was gonna check it out for a few months and drop it but he's on FY-AAHH! Gotta start think' about that lifetime subscription...
the 8 gig nano is amazing. go with that, and you won't be sorry...

Well to post an update, I purchased a 30gig video iPod. I didn't want to jump on the "iPod bandwagon", but after a bunch of research I honestly did feel like it was the best option for what i was looking for.
Guess I am a lemming in the long run.............LOL.......oh well, I am happy with my decision and it works great so far.

They have pretty much anything you want, just cheaper.
Also, if you know someone who is a student, you can get a 10% discount if you use there student id when checking out. Very much worth it too!

thanks for the heads up lp, i was able to get a 60 gig ipod video for $259. i was going to get the 30 gig for $209 but double the gigs for $50 was to good to pass up. it should arrive this week.

Right on, I just upgraded to a 30GB video iPod too, I was going to get the 8GB nano but they are both the same price so I figured why not get the most bang for my buck. I also purchased the Bose iPod dock, it sounds awesome and I love having my whole music library at my fingertips.
