Given some Ben Johnson/Do you Cheetah?? conversation in some other threads I thought It would be interesting to see just how effective their onslaught of commercials have proven to be.
I'd like to see their total amount spent on television advertising over the last 2 years...I'm willing to bet that it is RIDICULOUS. They have pretty much dominated NHL and Hockey Night in Canada advertising over this period (which are the most expensive tv ads in the Country) not to mention the constant barrage during primetime on A-Channel/Chum broadcasts as well.
So how often do you buy the stuff??

Don't forget the ads with Espo. Those are almost as horrible. A guy in his 40s asking Espo if he's going to get drafted this year?!? That's supposed to be funny?!?
Frank D'Angelo is a tool, I don't know if all those commercials were his idea or if he just appears in them, but if it is in fact him running the show, the million companies he seems to operate should spend some money on a marketing group. Remember D'Angelo apple juice? I think they had a commercial where Frank was a goalie and Wendel Clark shot a jug of apple juice at him or something (my memory is fuzzy), what ever happened to that stuff, do they still sell it?

I'd consider buying cheetah before I play hockey, but the only steelback I've ever had was given to us for free after a tounament....wtf is with plastic beer bottles with srcew off caps anyways??

It seems to be the in thing to do among big beer companies; I know Miller Brewing heavily promotes their MGD in plastic bottles and a screw on cap. Probably markets it to jocks on the premise that no matter how drunk you get, you can always screw on the cap and not spill any beer on yourself :roll:

I'll never buy anything associated with D'Angelo. They had me quote on the printing of their juice can labels. It was a big job, and a perfect fit for my company at the time. We quoted with great prices, they awarded us the work, sent us the files, had us make some changes to them, and had us order the raw materials... only to decide that they were going to use another vendor because they came in with better costs... after sending us the purchase order. So we invoiced them for the work done to date, and they refused to pay. Three years later and the invoice is still unpaid.
I talked to a friend at another company and D'Angelo used a similar tact with them...

I figured the guy was a slimeball with questionable business tactics when the friggin
CFL turned him down.

They do it in plastic in the states so people don't start throwing them at football games and sporting events.
