Gord played most of Christmastime acoustic, all by himself. He really can play the guitar! It was also weird to see him play an electric guitar. For the cover of Fortunate Son, he changed one of the opening lines from "made to wave the flag, the red, white, & blue" to "made to wave the flag, the red, white, & red." Nice touch on Canada Day.
on the setlist, the last 4 songs read:

Yeah, I saw a few songs on Gord's pre-written setlist that either weren't played or played in a different order, and we know this happens sometimes with Hip setlists too. The setlist I posted was taken from the actual TV performance. I'm hoping he stayed to play a few more after the cameras went off (like The Hip did in 2000) and maybe they'll play them on MMM later or post them somewhere on the web.
for someone without Muchmusic (living in the UK) what kind of questions did people ask? any good ones? any stupid ones?

Ok... well, as for the questions, you did not miss anything at all... they were lame and there weren't very many of them (yay!). Gord actually didn't 'fully' answer any question in any depth, probably for that reason!! Bill Welychka (however you spell it), the host, did a terrible job and constantly cut off Gord (and asked him stupid hockey trivia). Bill also sent a rather snide remark to Dale ("you're not mic-ed!!!!")....jerk
BUT the best part was Gord cracking jokes throughout... it was as if he were mocking the questions. :thumb: One question about how he seperates poetry and songwriting, Gord seemed interested in that one... but he was cut off.
He made us laugh so many times. :lol:
And, they did not play after the show stopped rolling, but they played two songs beforehand.. even though the production driven MuchMoreMusic people were rushing them and treating them like cardboard objects... :roll: That's TV........
Yup...and I must admit Gord is a tad socially challenged.

Seemed to me that he was a little uncomfortable, sorta like a fish outta water. But the real problem with the interview was Bill What'shisname. That guy was a brutal interviewer, trying to put words in both Gord's and the question askers mouths and cutting Gord off. Gord just looked plain annoyed with some questions. Plus I don't think Bill understood some of Gord's little comments like the T-Ball comment about the hockey trivia.
Did anyone else catch Gord quoting Bruce Springsteen in the interview? I forget what the question was but he spouted off at the end of his answer:
"May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love"
He may have paraphrased it a little, I can't remember, but thats from 'Into The Fire' off of the Boss's latest album. Pretty cool. :thumb:
The music itself was great though, and that's really what everone wanted to hear anyway. I could have done without seeing the awkwardness of Gord trying to get through some of those brutal questions, I can't remember what they were anymore, I just remember cringing when I heard them.
Thumbs up for the music and a big thumbs down for the interviewer and the whole way the interview parts were handled.
Just my opinion.

So did you tape the show so that you could catch yourself on tv? How many people were there? Were you right inside?

I was right inside.... my friend got us wristbands and we were right beside Dave... There were less that 75 people I would guess... It was so exciting... but like I said, the thing was so production-driven it was hard just to enjoy... i felt like I should have been cardboard! lol
Wow I really enjoyed it! I got piss drunk and had such a good time watching Gord. I agree with everyone that Bill did a horrible job!
I did notice that Gord messed up a little on Chancellor.
I thought he was so funny! Did anyone think he was maybe a little stoned?
I know I get like that sometimes. I forget what I am saying, or can't pay attention. That was my thought, rather then he was nervous. But what do I know.
Anyway I taped it and I'm sure I will watch it quite a few times. :thumb:
he seemed fine to me, all he did was reverse a couple of lines. you have to realize that it is really difficult to sing and play guitar at the same time, and although he has been playing for quite a while, he only recently started doing both at the same time.
well u can catch it on t.v gord getting passed a flask to one of the horn section guys- maybe drunk and stoned who cares was A great concert and "more me less you " Gord to Bill
