why am i not buying? i live near albany, NY and no one is selling. no music store can even tell me an actual US release date, and for some reason the hip's website doesn't bother mentioning it. best buy will order it for me as an import for $32!
so, i had a friend burn it for me off of limewire for free. i've bought all their other ones, and have been a fan since hearing them on chez 106 in 1988. the only other time i paid import price was for live between us, which set me back $24, and then months later i saw it everywhere for $10 or so. not getting burned again...
by the way i searched quite a few topics on hipbase thinking there must be thread for american fans and the album release, but no luck. i must be out of the loop, but not finding info on the hip's site is the most disappointing thing. :x

You could've bought it from any number of Canadian online retailers and had it shipped to the U.S. for a hell of a lot cheaper than $32. Check it out:

i take his point, however. I think he's just saying it is disappointing that the hip haven't released it to the international market place and in the world of downloading, why should he go out of his way to track it down. here in the UK, we are also waiting for the release.
i bought an import copy, but there is something far more satisfying about a domestic release. We just want to see the love spread beyond the Canadian borders....

I thought MAv explained that the reason it was released domestically in Canada first was because otherwise the Canadian market would have had to wait. From my perspective (clearly a Canadian one), it makes more sense to satisfy the majority of your audience as soon as possible and then do international releases when you can rather than making the big audience wait until the small ones can be catered to as well.
I have chewing my fingers waiting for the American release. I have been listening to the new album on the Hip web site for two or three weeks now. I am going to hold out for the American release just so my purchase is reflected in the sales numbers. Frankly I think downloading off limewire is theft!
i've never had a problem with people downloading music, in this case, with the hip probably being his favourite band, i still don't have a problem with it, as long as he decides to buy it when it's released in the states...
even if he doesn't, i wouldn't consider it a big deal, just a lil disappointing, that's all.

I live in Washington DC, and I bought it off Maple Music online, but who are you to judge??? So, no one's ever given you a burned CD before? The Hip are and always will be my favorite band, and I will always support them. However, I like to hear other stuff too, and if someone burns me a CD, I'm not gonna give them $15 and tell them to donate it to whoever deserves it...it's how music gets shared and how new people find out about new bands.
