Kinda looking for reccomeded canadian stores and just how long does it take to learn how to play..

My Master plan is to learn how to play BOBC for my future wedding reception (probably 2 years from now) We will most likely get eloped and come back to have a party in which hopefully i can pull off this surprise.

Can somebody post bobc's tab please!

I've seen all the other versions of this song and I still felt that
they were all missing something so, I've done up my own version in open
G tuning, I didn't bother to do lead, but if anyone wants to give it a try
feel free to add to this tab. This song has alot of pedal guitar over the
break so some of those chords may be incorrect.

Thanks to Steve Proulx for providing the chords for the break.

sorry for the confusion. :thumb:
A great acoustic guitar is the Simon & Patrick 6 (SP6). They are made in Quebec so if you're living in Canada you get to buy a great guitar without having to pay the extra costs of import taxes like what you'd pay (hidden costs) if you bought a yamaha. They sound great, play like butter, and are fairly affordable. You can pick up a decent acoustic guitar for around 300$

A lot of the hip songs sound great on acoustic (wheat kings, 38yrs old, scared, Little Bones etc) - they really have a tonne of songs that sound awesome on acoustic. Even the electric ones sound good.

If you want to buy an electric then no need to spend more than 500$ on a decent electric and you can get an apartment size amp for less than 200$ that wont keep your neighbors awake but will still shake the apt when you want to. A good basic amp is the Fender 15R..for around 190$ - sounds great.

Either way, the Hip sounds great on guitar and you'll have a blast. Some of their stuff is a little tricky to learn on - start with wheat kings and go from there.

For Open G tuning I think you just have to tune your A (5th string) down to a G. At least thats what I do for Boots or Hearts and it works.

Cheers.

Open G is from low to high D G D G B D

easiest way to tune it is to get yourself a chromatic tuner. It's worth it though, open tunings are a lot of fun to play with.
I've always been a very big fan of Yamaha acoustic guitars myself. I bought one as my first guitar about 8 years ago, and the sound it gets is stellar. It's very warm, and the neck is fairly thin. The model number is F-310, and they retial for somewhere around $200. For the price and quality, you definitely can't go wrong.

As for Bobcaygeon... it's a fairly easy song to play. As mentioned, it is in open G tuning. However, the rhythm part can be played in standard tuning, and it sounds fairly good. The chords are as follows:

G Am7
I left your house this morning
G Am7
bout a quarter after nine
G Am7
Could've been the Willie Nelson
G Am7
Could've been the wine

Bm C
When I left your house this morning was a
G Am7
Little after nine
Bm
It was in Bobcaygeon I saw the contellations
G Am7
Reveal themselves one star at a time

The verse and chorus repeat, then there's the bridge...

(Am7) Em
That night in Toronto with its
C(9)
Checkerboard floors, riding on
G D
Horseback, and keeping order restored. Till the men they
Em
Couldn't hang step to the
C(9) D
Mic and sang and their voices rang with that Aryan twang

That's all the parts of the song, now it's just a matter of piecing it all together. I tried my best to fit the chords into their proper places with respect to the lyrics, but it all got messed up once I submitted the post. It's a fairly straightforward song, so there shouldn't really be too much of a problem figuring it out in its entirety based on the above snippits of lyrics. Best of luck with it either way, I hope this helps!
Thanks so much for your help :thumb:
