Don't worry, they're coming. Robby mentioned that they'd be touring the States in spring/summer '07.

If memory serves, he mentioned March and April in particular...

Because it's a CANADIAN tour.

If it is March 6 for the album... my bet is either March 2 or March 9 for the US tour to kick off...
There have been numerous comments by the guys in the band that they will be touring the US once the CD gets released.

I pre-ordered at Amazon.ca and it arrived just three days after it went on-sale. I seem to recall past US releases being within weeks of the Canadian release. Or maybe it's 'cause I always buy Canadian.

I guess the label figures since the US market (in general) doesn't 'get' The Hip it doesn't matter if let alone when, it's released down here.
With the right marketing and some airplay, several tracks off WC could be more than a blip on border-city play-lists. At this point though, as long as the boys and their families are comfortable with the economics, I'd almost rather the American public remain clueless. Why, after all, should their art contradict their politics?

Whenever it happens and wherever they are, I'll be ready for some US dates.

Because they probably want to release the album and have a tour at the same time

they should do a 4-night run in Buffalo to get ready for the tour...

From the sound of the show at the Pheonix...they are more than ready right now.
Buffalo will get a date for sure, but no more than one. Short roadies to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Roch/Syracuse will do!

The last studio album that wasn’t released in the US the same week as Canada was Day for Night (it came out in Feb/Mar 1995).
Are they still associated with Zoe/Rounder Records? That is who put out IVL and IBE and their entire back catalog in 2004. I figured maybe they have parted ways, hence the delayed release in the US?

sounds strange to say this...but, the U.S. is small potatoes compared to Canada (At least where The Hip are concerned)...wait, no, it sounds good to say that, hehe...
must be nice to be able to see them in intimate venues and not have to pay as much for tickets though...

you know what great about the US? Is that when the Hip come to town they play 200-300 seat places so we get to see them up close and personal. Not from the second level of the Air CA Center
