in honour of today..for me Halloween, the first one, scares the shit out of me everytime i see it..the lighting, the music, the way the "boogeyman" moves..freaky...exorcist 1 and 3 are up there as well

I'm not a big fan of horror movies, but I'd say the Blair Witch Project was extremely well done.

When I was about 10 or 11, I remember being at a sleep-over birthday party, and my friend had rented Nightmare on Elm St. We watched the movie, and afterwards, everybody got up and started playing or whatever....I just sat there shaking, and I don't think I slept too well for the next 3 weeks... :lol:

Corby, I'm with you. The Shining. When the camera is following the kid around on the trike, turning corners in the hallways as he is, and then all of a sudden at the end of the hall..... the twin girls. Jeezus, I just got goosebumps typing that... may need to watch it tonight...

watched Hellraiser 1 & 2 last night, meh, one sucked...2 was kinda cool...and i realized that's where Trent Reznor got the inspirado for the song "Help Me, I Am In Hell"...that was cool.

how could i forget The Shining(or the shinning as groundskeeper willie would say)...freaky..i remember watching a midnight showing of that once at a theatre, and afterwards walking to the car at 2'30 in the morning feeling like i was going to die!!

Eraserhead. I don't know if I regret watching it alone in the dark, but I will definitely never forget how fucking terrified I was.

honourable mention to The House of 1000 Corpses and the Devil's rejects...not all that scary IMO, but great flicks nonethless!

I watched that on acid.

All I remember is a bunch of disjointed black and white images and the soundtrack, which seemed to consist of bass guitar feedback emanating from my molars.

Scary movies lack reality..."I see dead people" jsu don'tcut it, but I'm a pussy when it comes o ghost tv shows. I find myself on the couch at 12 watchin episodes of TAPS, or that british ghost show, or even that most scariest places show where they have the cameras set up on neck rigs and they put the people in the "isolation hole" to talk with Jimmy who killed two guard with his spork...sometimes I'm too scared to get off the couch.

I still think the original Halloween movie is a classic and one of the best ever. The suspense, the waiting and the amazing musical score made it great, it scared me good when I was young, although it takes alot more these days, I still love watching it on those dark creepy nights around this time of year.

The original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre is pretty scary, very gritty and dark plus the sounds of that chainsaw can really give you the creeps, not much blood or gore but it leaves alot to the imagination and sometimes thats worse. TDC already mentioned House of 1000 Corpses, it might not rank real high on the scare meter but it left me feeling real uneasy for a couple weeks after watching it, its pretty messed up, Devil's Rejects is hard to watch as well.
