Ballgame: Google is your friend in this situation. Do a little research, read the FAQs on the tracker, and you'll be fine.

Bit Torrent is a sharing system - not a server system. You are downloading from other users who are sharing the same file. If you do not share, it puts the burden on to others, which is not fair. The tracker monitors your actions and will ban you if you do not share at least 50% of what you download.

As our fanbase/community grows I will be increasing the minimum ratio. I encourage everyone to aim for at least 1.5 on all torrents, but it seems that only a few generous fans succeed.

Im reading the FAQ now. I struggle with this stuff

The ratio of what you download to what you upload can be expressed as a percentage or as a decimal.

50% = 0.5
150% = 1.5

If you download 1000 megabytes of data and upload only 500 megabytes you ratio would be 0.5 as you only uploaded 50% of what you downloaded. This ratio is cumulative and does not have to be achieved on a single show/file/download.

No worries. Chris explained it better than me. Yes, seed means 'give back'. All you have to do really, is keep your client software running when you have finished downloading, and as long there are people who are downloading the files you have (or 'leeching') then you should upload automatically. It makes a lot more sense when you actually do it. It also becomes rather addictive! :oops:

The BitTorrent client software doesn't take up much of your computers resources. As for converting the files, there's a good, free little program that I use called Switch.
