Hey folks... just got a new laptop with a DVD burner. With no disc in teh drive, it registers as a DVD burner, but when a DVD-R is put in, it reads as a CD. Because of this, DVD Shrink, and Nero, does not work for burning DVD's. Can anyone help me with this?

Have you tried using a DVD+R/RW? There's a clear explanation of the differences here. Check the documentation that came with your laptop or the specs on the manufacturer's site. My last PC's burner would only work with "+" format blanks. Until I did some research I thought I had defective blanks.
