OK, so I'm in on the pre-sale at exactly 10 a.m. (refreshed about 1.4 billion times this morning) and at 10:00:10, the best available seats for five tickets at MTS Centre in Winnipeg are:

Row 31 on the floor.

Excuse me? I've had row 6-8 EVERY year since 1993 for the Hip. What the hell? I decided to try the stands and ended up getting row 15 in the stands for the five of us. Brutal.

MTS allows their employees to purchase tickets before anyone else...which apparently screwed me — a real fan — today. Worst tickets in over 10 years.

----------------------

Hold on here... I work at MTS and FOR THE RECORD, there was NO PRE-SALE offer for the Hip for MTS employees. Nothing whatsoever. I got my tickets by being a Hip Club member and a good internet connection (yes, MTS) ....landed myself 5 tix 3rd Row FLOOR....

Just wanted to make it very clear that MTS didn't have a pre-sale offer for their employees. And even when they DO have a pre-sale, it's the exact same pre-sale and ticket choice as HOB (house of blues and Power97), SO join those clubs online and you'll get the same deal as them MTS Employees....

See ya in the 3rd row!
sounds like you're covering up the conspiracy! GET HER! LET'S PUT HER HEAD ON A PIKE!

Guess my response to that would be: yeah, sure Big Grin

I think that the MTS Center opening and ticketmaster taking over from select a seat was a real shock to Winnipegers. All of a sudden we are getting bigger names coming to Winnipeg and people are shocked to find out that technology has advanced to the point where standing in line when tickets go on sale is the Worst way to get tickets. at the time of the Hillary Duff ticket scandal in our fine city, people had to find somebody to blame because they couldnt get tickets for their kids to see Hilary Duff so they pointed at MTS employees since they had an evil pre-sale and got to buy tickets before anybody else  . Big deal, that the way it goes now. Its called the internet, and its changed our lives forever.

Like it was mentioned above, its time for people to get with the times, buy tickets on-line (and get the best/fastest internet connection possible!) , join a fanclub, get an am-ex card, do some research before tickets go on sale, buy on ebay (be patient, buy just before the concert and you get some good deals!) whatever you have to do to see your favorite band.
That's not the point of what I'm saying. Whether MTS gets first dibs or not, I've always purchased quality seats online for every show I've gone to the last eight or 10 years. My question is why was the best seats available at 10:00:01 in the 31st row? You can't tell me my Internet connection was poor and hundreds and hundreds of others beat me to it.

Whatever, I'm over it now, I'm just still confused by the whole thing and how to go about getting better seats next time.
The ticket presale doesn't necessarily have all of the best seats available. They only make a certain number of seats available, with only a limited number of them being prime seats. The rest of them go on sale to the general public.

I logged on at the same time as you and got 8 tickets 3rd Row Floor. 28 rows is the difference between being 1/2 second faster than someone else when there are hundreds, or maybe even thousands of people buying at least two tickets each.
The big show is quickly approaching! Last time the Hip came to town, the show was not recorded by any fans, so no bootleg could be obtained by fans that attended the amazing concert. Hopefully this time around someone will be willing to tape this concert, so that it can be shared with the Hipbase community, serving as a wonderful keepsake of those who attended the show. If you are interested in taping the Winnipeg concert, or any other concerts in the upcoming Winter Tour, refer to the thread: http://hipbase.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=138405#138405
and sign your name beside the concert you plan on taping.
I'd offer to tape the show, but i've been told the acoustics don't sound as great from ROW 5 ON THE FLOOR! 8)

Bad acoustics are better than no acoustics... Do you have any recording equipment, or were you just flaunting your row 5 fortune?

Just flaunting the fortune... I might catch a song or two on my 4.2 digital cam, but that's about it.
Anyone interested in winning a pair of tickets for the Winnipeg show? Send me a PM with your email address, then you'll get 2 entries to win!
Does anyone know of any ways I can meet the band after or before the show?? Is it possible to wait out by their buses??
