that's funny a co-worker just called me sayin he heard that on the radio this afternoon, but i want sure if it was credable enough to post because i checked the website and didnt find anything
My cousin works in the advertising industry and knows alot of people in the business in Toronto. She said one time she was having dinner at a friends house one night and who should show up but Mr. Downie. They had dinner, drank some beers and shot the shit. My jaw dropped when she told me that story. The person whose house it was at was the guy who did the artwork for either Battle of the Nudes or Coke Machine Glow.
I would be highly freaked out by having Gord come to my house.
First off, I don't have a house. Secondly, I respect his art and think he's quite interesting, but having him at my house... mucho weird. I'd feel obligated to entertain and impress.

I agree with you Jenna -- totally weird. What would you do with him? Sure, you could tie him up and put him in the meat locker, but that's the first place the cops would check.
Also, with the shrine and all, I'd be embarrassed. I'd probably end up dismantling most of it -- at least the main floor part, anyway. Plus, I know he's going to want that lock of hair back.

Exactly, Jenna. I've always said (or at least, started saying once I got wise) that I wouldn't really want to meet anyone whose work I admire, as I would have nothing to say to them that wouldn't be completely inane.

Like Jenna said, I'd need a house first (I don't think my mom would understand having Gord over, but I digress :lol: ) However, I think (or I hope my brain would function in a normal way and not keep repeating I have fricking Gordo in my house! over and over :lol: ) that I would try to ask him questions about politics and art, seeing as I probably don't agree with 60 percent of Gord's political views but it sure would be an interesting conversation.
Hmm. very interesting. So he is visiting people in Toronto and Vancouver. Last night I heard the local Winnipeg Rock station were making an announcement regarding the Hip on Monday morning. Maybe Gord wants to drop in at my house? Or maybe the station is planning another Guy Getaway contest to one of the Phoenix shows in October. I'll take either one... :lol: i'll keep you posted on the actual announcement early next week!
I just wathced an episode of Gene Simmons- Family Jewels the other day where a so-called Biggest Fan won the chance to hang out with Gene all day, Gene came to the fan's house and then they went mini-putting and bumper boating...after that Gene's wife invited the fan in for dinner back at Gene's house when it was quite clear Gene just wanted the dude to leave. It was almost hard to watch because you could tell how much it meant to this guy and how awkward Gene looked and felt...I'm not sure what I'd do if Gord came over....definitely not go bumper boating that's for sure.
But if Paul came over I would invite a bunch of people I don't like over so he could kick their ass in my livingroom...that would be good entertainment.
