So, the show was great. Controller Controller and Hawksley were very good. I got to lead the pit in a rendition of "Oh Canada" before the boys took the stage. Got to scream along with Gord with a bunch of strangers/great new friends.

And then... my friend Jen says she's getting crushed by the Rock Jocks up front; so I take her out of the pit. We eventually get to the side, as Jen wants to sit against the fence. I sit down first, Jen hovers reluctantly.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"Do you smell that?"

"No." I say.

"It smells like shit."

"Jen, it doesn't smell like shit, just sit down, it's fine..."

And just as I'm patting the ground in a "sit right here fashion," I feel something warm.

I'd put my hand in a steaming, heaping pile of human shit.

Who takes a dump against a fence at a festival?

Noticing the shit cream sundae on my hand, I get up and begin walking towards the wash station. Jen, thinking I'm coming after her with my feces claw, takes off running into the crowd. Soon enough, everybody in the area is looking at the abominable shit monster who is now trapsing through the crowd.

All I can say is thank God for the purell tent.
Wow, shitty.
That gives a whole new meaning to "Pull up a stool and sit down...."
Bummer. That's similar to my experience at Sarstock:

We were about 5 or 6 rows from the stage, and had been there for most of the day. During the lull before the storm that is AC/DC, I felt somthing warm splash the back of my leg. Trevor, who is standing beside me, does as well. We turn around to see a drunk buffoon taking a piss on the backs of our legs.

He asks me what my problem is. I tell him. He suggests that I punch him in the face to make up for his mistake. I didn't as his gang of drunk asshole friends would've made quick work of us...
Jesus. I've been to hundreds of concerts and have never been pissed on, nor have I seen a piles of excrement lying around on venue grounds.

Maybe I really don't need to see a Hip show north of the border! Tongue
I was sitting against the fence for some of the concert, nearing the end a guy walks up and takes a piss no more than 4 feet from my face, it was at that point i decided the best thing for me to do, was to no longer sit against the fence

Stephen, that sucks and is pretty unbelievable . . .
Wow that really sucks, sorry Dame. If it makes you feel any better a bird shit on my head at a Hip show once, actually it was my hat but still.
I also recall the time me and a friend went to the Hip's 1999 Y2K-New Years show in T.O. The next morning we went to the train station to head home, and as were waiting on a bench inside (very hungover and on literally no sleep) some dirtbag punk sits down beside us on the bench and starts peeing on the floor. I remember my friend saying, if I wasnt so tired and hungover I'd pound this asshole..looking back now, we should of. I hate when people pull shit like this, show some respect for others...is that too much to ask?
On a related note, has anyone seen my pile of shit?? I think I left it in Stratford.

[Kidding, of course. That's horrible]

I think "respect for others" went out of style sometime during the '80s.
that sucks man!, but the way you told the story made me laugh my ass off.

Horrible- you shouldn't feel the need to come up for a show here, you are way better off getting to see them in smaller venues, there are way to many dumbass Hip fans up here, as you can see from the stories in the thread. Festival shows can be pretty bad.

That can come after "lighthouse keeper," when Dame reaches 3200 posts. Smile
Thats terrible! How does someone go from "This song is awesome" to "I think ill take a nice huge shit right by that fence"? There is nothing that can justify doing something like that. Well if you believe in karma, that guy is gonna have a shitty life. (literally)
feel bad about your luck, but you did tell the story great. never encountered that at a show before
