Crikey..i just came on to post the same thing..to be honest with you, the guy annoyed the shit out of me, but it's still not cool to see somebody die..although it's not all that surprising considering what he did for a living

A little shocking to hear this on the radio this morning. I always thought a croc would get him.

Ya I heard this last nite, sad. But the guy did and lived what he loved doing, he got his kicks from living on the edge, Good on you mate :thumb:

I used to love his show (judge all you want). I couldn't believe it when I read that on canoe this morning. Such a shock. As annoying as he could be, he was certainly likeable.

I'll admit it, I loved the show, my kids loved the show. I was and still am in shock.

No matter what you think of the guy, you have to have a ton of respect to anyone who can be so passionate about what they do for a living. The guy lived and breathed his job and loved every single second of it. Its a rare thing that most of us will never know..............

A lot of people figured it had to happen to him sooner or later. Well, chopping wood is dangerous. But the way Steve Irwin died wasn't like hitting your leg while splitting wood and bleeding to death. It was more like having a splinter of wood fly off and frighten a chipmunk, which runs over the picnic table and knocks over the can of naptha, which flows over the Coleman lantern, which explodes, causing you to drop the axe in surprise, so that the axe splits your skull on its way to the ground.

To have a stingray barb penetrate your chest cavity and pierce your heart? That's a freak accident if there ever was one. What goes through your mind in the last moments when you get killed by something like that? Thinking about that is hard to take.

I hope before he died he got to hear "In View" :thumb:
