They're gonna squeeze 30 songs onto a single disc?? Wow. They must all be really short songs. This is gonna be interesting.
Anyone got there's yet, I'm diggin it :thumb:
Anyone yet? You guys gotta hear this, it's pretty amazing.,just how it flows so nicely, great harmonies too. Prawly the best stuff they've done!
finally got a chance to listen - really sweet! the flow is smooth and as Summiteer says the harmonies are great!
Anybody know where I can find this on vinyl?
god i used to love these guys...navy blues tolerable, everything after...crud.

Im kinda of the same thought with Sloan, they're a solid band but after awhile I tired of them and now could really care less what they do. I like a smattering of songs from all their albums but that's about it. I have heard the new album, and it is good Ill admit, but its got no staying power imo, I can see it collecting dust in about a month so Im going to pass, like I do with most of their albums.

I'm the same. I absolutely LOVED their first three albums, and Navy Blues has some great stuff on it, but after that I kinda lost interest. Although, "The Other Man" is possibly one of the best singles I've heard in the last 10 years. That song marked a bit of a departure for them and it got me interested in them again, but unfortunately the rest of that album was terrible. A buddy of mine gave me a free promo copy of the new album, and I agree it's pretty good, but 30 songs of Beatle-esque pop-rock is a little too much in one sitting. There is some interesting stuff in there, and if they had whittled it down to maybe 12 or 13 tracks, they might have had a classic on their hands.
they're coming back to Sudbury in October...first time since 98...i'll probably go...unless our No Offence Festival is the same time (Neuraxis, Triskele, Skinless, Beyond Within, Wolven Ancestry, Ion Dissonance, Cryptopsy), then i'd probably go to the festival instead...for the same price.
i, too, loved smeared, twice removed and one chord. first day i bought navy blues put it in and thought "wow, this is insanely good." then after dozens of listens i started to completely lose interests. hooks are nice, of course, but when they're too obvious songs can get dull in a hurry.

in recent years, it just kinda feels to me like they're targeting themselves towards teenage girls or something. i'm totally embarrassed for that "if it feels good do it" song. good god.
that was a cool song...IMO
"if it feels good do it" IMO was the highlight of their set opening for the Stones recently, the song kicked ass live!

I picked up the new album today, haven't had a chance to listen to it yet though.
the new album plows...pretensious "are we acdc, are we the beatles..well..we've run out of acutal talent" bullshit cd
