Rumoured to be there, HIP, Sam Roberts, Chris Koster and the ever amazing James McKenty and the Spades... Tickets are $25 each, it's a fundraiser for a girl who recently was diagnosed with Cancer and the staff at her work, Woodenheads, is organizing this little hoot for her....

I was just going to say that I don't know if the Elixir can hold those bands and all their gear.
There was a tribute to the Hip there last summer and it was a tight squeeze. If anyone's planning on going, I highly suggest talking to the people running it to ensure you get in. Wouldn't want you to make the trip, only to be turned away at the door because they're at capacity.

Gord Sinclair and Paul Langlois for sure plus Sam Roberts and Chris Koster solo but who knows- id get back again to kingston if i could tommorow!
i imagine Rob Baker will be in the building since I've seen him before at some CK/Spades shows in K-Town.......who knows about Gordie tho

As one who saw The Hip in their Kingston club days, seeing Gord S. and Paul up there rockin' the Elixir with The Spades was a memory jolt of the best kind. Along the way they played 3 songs written by Gord. Two were sung by James McKenty and one was sung by Paul. Paul also sang another song. I don't know if it was an original or not (and yes folks....he did kick ass). They were also joined at one point by Dan Ackroyd for a couple tunes.
Chris Koster opened the evening and Matt Mays & El Torpedo and Sam Roberts also delivered dynamite sets. The encore for the evening was a rousing rendition of Neil Young's Powderfinger with the Spades and Gord and Paul being joined on stage by Matt and Sam. That was after 2 in the morning and I couldn't help be amazed at the tremendous show all these guys had delivered and not one of them was being paid a cent. It was a fundraiser organized by Billy Ray (the Hip's road manager) and the folks at WoodenHeads where the young lady works.
Everyone including the packed house deserve a lot of praise for a job well done. It was totally soldout and was the most sought after ticket in Kingston for days. Billy Ray joked that it was easier to put Matt Mays on the bill than it was to try and get them tickets to get in.

I have no idea. I think the songs are all pretty old in the scheme of things and have nothing to do with any album or anything in particular. Songs from Gord S., the Spades, a cover - something like 21 ton locamotive - were also played. Paul and Gord were playing with the Spades at the time.
It was a great night of music in Kingston for a great cause!
